APPERANTLY, they have no problem with Regal doing this, but when it's Sheamus, it's bad?
Oh, whatever, Sheamus deserves to get cheered, and it was awesome, and so is he.

I think it was just a joke about the size of the Sheamus sign

At least he got to wrestle in his home area, unlike Beth Phoenix in Buffalo.

This is reason number 387 why I stopped watching. It used to be fun to see heels get face reactions in their home town/country. Remember that massive pop La Resistance got in Montreal? Bret in Calgary. Regal in England. Santino in Italy. Even something like Orton in St. Louis. But no, can't have that kind of fun. Only WWE Universe fun, where there is no alligience to any state or country, only the WWE Universe!

Determine the face-pop for yourselves: Damn good promo by Cena actually.

Exactly, the whole buildup to IYH: Canadian Stampede was that it was gonna be bizzaro world and the faces would be booed while the heels would be cheered, boy was that ever true.

I just don't see the point in doing it, what harm would it do to mention Sheamus got a good reaction in his hometown? Bret Hart was a super heel and got a great reaction in Canada in 97. I think it's simple, WWE just love ass-f***ing Cena and don't want anybody to out-pop him. It's sad that they act like he's more over than he is and this is what I've been saying all along. If he was as over as he was, he wouldn't be booed and they wouldn't have to cover it up. Because Sheamus is a {Spoiler}HEEL But at the same time, they keep pointing out that Sheamus is the "first Irish-born WWE Champion", so it shouldn't come as a big shock to anyone that he's a hometown hero in Ireland.

Amazing.

I realize it's a house show but they do it on TV all the time now, so the point still stands, and I said it was one of many reasons (387 means I don't consider it that important) why I stopped watching.
I can't believe there are still apologists for the product. That's what's amazing. I was watching some Raw from 95 and even that was better than today. It's never been worse.

Remnant of kayfabe. No big deal. Actually, no. If word got out that they were lying about crowd reactions in a time where everything was supposed to be real, people would start to get suspicious. And angry.

What's really amazing is that irrational Cena hate is causing people to bitch about one line about a house show on WWE.com.

Not as bad as when they tried to cover up the reactions Batista and Big Show got at Hammerstein Ballroom.

No no, it really has been worse. The talent they have now is far better than at a lot of times in their history. I'm a staunch defender of the product, but looking at it objectively, I can say that 08 was better than 09, and 09 was better than 07, etc etc. The whole 'It was better what I was younger' bit is obviously what I lot of people are going to think, since you're never going to be drawn into it again by the mystique of it all like you were when you were a kid, but you can go one of two ways. Carry on being a cynic and denouncing what they put out today as you 'cant believe' anyone else would like it, or you can just appreciate it for what it is, don't expect to like everything since you're not a kid anymore but know that there's a lot of people that still will. I was at the 02 last night, and it was probably the best crowd I've ever been apart of there. Maybe it was where I was sitting, but there was a lack of smarky people moaning about every little thing and a lot of kids just flat out enjoying themselves. That's what it should be about.

Nostalgia has NOTHING to do with it. WWE has been hot and cold all decade. Right now they're freezing. Why do you think they're just giving the title to people? They've never done that. They're in desperation mode. I've been watching since the first Wrestlemania. I've watched wrestling from every promotion from all over the world for decades. I'm a wrestling fan. I can remove nostalgia from my observations. Here's an example - Superfriends sucks. Justice League was amazing. See how easy that is? Fact is they have the same 6 main eventers hogging the spotlight for the past five years, having the same matches, fueds have no heat because everything is PG, their idea of comedy stopped being funny in the twenties, the commentating is nothing but soundbites, the wresters aren't wrestlers, they're underwear models, RAw is now a variety show lamer than Hee Haw, their marketing tactics have turned WWE into a cult - this isn't being a cynic, these a clealy defined reasons why I don't like it anymore. At least the current product has given this site a goldmine.

I believe that John Cena is the be all, end all of why WWE is so bad at the moment. Things like this don't help, I think they should have mentioned how well recieved Sheamus was in his hometown, that's all. I'm under the impression they did it to protect Cena and how nobody can ever boo him (The sign confiscations, anyone?) not cause Sheamus is a bad guy.
Sheamus is proud of his irish heritage, he mentions it all the time on TV. Surely it's only natural he's like a hometown hero here...
