I'm still a huge mark for the original ECW. I know at one point guys like Sabu went over to XPW. Was it as good? Did it have the same kind of fanbase? Are there any awesome XPW matches?

Oh, dear god, no.
I want to say this quote was RD in Death of WCW, but I may be wrong. And I'm paraphrasing.
"XPW was the visual manifestation of ECW's corpse being molested. Or, since it started a few months before ECW actually died, ECW's body on life-support being molested a la Kill Bill."

I hadn't really seen much about it besides what I saw in WOW magazine and even then it was mostly just Lizzy and the girls that they covered. I never hear anyone speak of it so I'm not even going to bother looking up matches.

It was horrid. Like someone performed an abortion on ECW and botched it up, leaving the corpse of ECW in the alley dumpster.

Ok, picture ECW.
Are you doing that? Good. Alright, to start with, take Paul Heyman and replace him with an owner/promoter that funded the company through hardcore pornography that focused on rape fantasies, sadomasochism, and humiliation, pornography that would eventually get them into legal problems.
Next, take the ECW talent pool and replace them with the following: even more obscure, even less trained wrestlers; cast offs from ECW like Big Dick Dudley; more famous ECW alumni like Shane Douglas, Terry Funk, Sandman, New Jack, Chris Candido, and Sabu, but older and more beat up; gimmicks like "The Hardcore Homo, Angel", "Pogo the Clown", and "The Messiah", who literally claimed, early on, to be Jesus Christ.
Then, take the dangerous conditions ECW wrestlers worked in and turn up the volume to 10: more thumbtack matches, higher balcony spots, and more flaming tables. To make matters worse with the tables, there was an infamous spot where XPW hardcore mainstay Supreme went through a flaming table that was set on fire with kerosene, burning him severely. And that's not counting the explosion death match they had with all the malfunctions.
Finally, add a dash of real world scumbaggery, as former XPW champ "The Messiah" was attacked in his apartment, had a fish tank smashed on his head, and one of his thumbs cut off due to an alleged affair with promoter Rob Black's porn star wife. That's about it.
Though, I admit to liking some of the cruiser weights they had.

My interest level went from one to none...... Honestly, you should be more interested in going out of your way to avoid it then out of your way to see it. It was horrible, and a disgrace.

I'd reccomend finding, and watching -
Homeless Jimmy vs. Johnny Webb vs. Kronus (Go Funk Yourself) Supreme vs. The Messiah (Go Funk Yourself) Sabu vs. Terry Funk (Go Funk Yourself) Sabu & Homeless Jimmy vs. The Messiah & Vic Grimes (XPW TV)
And that's about it. I really enjoy XPW TV but on the whole, it really isn't for everybody, generally. The terrible really outweighs the good, but those four matches are excellent, despite what anyone might say.

XPW TV is great, if you don't expect wrestling. It was a kinda kooky, zany, adult situations soap opera that is entertaining, but not by any means art.

It was like ECW on crack... XPW ran some shows in Pittsburgh and I happened to attend one and it was just horrible... Never, ever, ever bother with it.

Its so bad I actualy threw a XPW dvd in the garbage and the garbage men threw it back in my yard. Seriously though it's good for a laugh. I saw a match between Vic Grimes and Homeless Jimmy were I really thought Jimmy would be crippled. Something to do w/ Jimmy getting recklessly throw onto a shopping cart.

I saw a match between Vic Grimes and Homeless Jimmy were I really thought Jimmy would be crippled. Something to do w/ Jimmy getting recklessly throw onto a shopping cart. That really happened? Man, I don't know if selling it at a new/used store or online would be enough. Throwing it out would be better, but I would rather be discrete about it. Anyway, I saw video "tributes" of that on YouTube in the past, as well as reading an article on OWW about XPW. Especially the spot that was mentioned about flaming tables being lit with kerosene and the wrestler was actually burning. That made me cringe a bit. I remember seeing VHS's being for sale at Suncoast back in the day, same with an XPW DVD a few years ago. Curiosity can really get the better of me sometimes, but at least I know how to fight it mostly and with that being said, I decided not to get those items.
