When Jarrett was a heel, he would win every match with a guitar shot. Logically, if you were a babyface fighting Jarrett, and every babyface prior to you has lost from the guitar shot, wouldn't your main objective of the match be to neutralize the guitar. For once I would have loved to have seen the babyface incapacitate Jarrett, and then go to the outside and break the guitar over the ring post. If good wrestling involves realistic characters and scenarios, I never saw any logic in a Jarrett match.

Logic would also dictate that when the referee's back in convenietly turned he should a) Hear the noise of the guitar smash. and b) "Duuuhhh why are there shards of Guitar on the canvas?"

That's because he never wrestled Eddie Guerrero.
Eddie would have either done something similar, or he would have waited for the ref bump/back turn, smashed the guitar, then proceed to lay down as though HE had just been incapacitated.

Man, that would have been awesome. Now I wish there had been a match between Eddie and Jarrett.

I actually think Sid (or was it Booker?) of all people did that in WCW. They smashed Jarrett with it, put the remains around their head and laid down. When the ref turned around, he saw both out and, then Sid crawled over and pinned Jeff.

Honkey Tonk amn used a real guitar. Not a Balsa wood frame with no strings. JJ's use of the guitar as over used and I would have welcomed anyone who did the above described sequence as the successor to Lou Thez

It is like Finlay and the shillelagh. Somehow only Knox was smart enough to chuck it up the aisle at the beginning of the match, but only during the times that Horny could get Fit a spare.

He hurt Jake's neck and people have said that Jake was never the same after that. Take it for what you will. As far as the OP goes. You could say this about a lot of people and the weapons they use. Chalk it up to booking.

I always just saw it as being part of the no replay in wrestling rule. The ref may know what happened but he didn't see it so he can't do anything about it.

That's a good theory to be honest.
They screw everything up though. Sometimes another ref comes out to tell the official ref about someone cheating and they re-start the match.
That always made me wonder why there isn't always a second ref watching in the back.

That always made me wonder why there isn't always a second ref watching in the back. I've always thought there was a referee card game or mass orgy going on and the times another ref came out is when they had been eliminated.
