Perhaps a tie between Steroid Scandal and Death of Owen.

Well, considering that the E was fixing to put the belt on Guerrero the night he died, and that it led to an angle that makes a lot of people uncomfortable, and considering how Guerrero was such a role model for everyone from coming back from all his demons to become one of, if not THE, top star in the WWE, I'd say Guerrero's death.

Eddie G., not just because it was recent, but because he was on top of the card. The Smackdown title picture has been sub-par ever since. They have yet to find a replacement for the "Top Tweener", as I saw him, Eddie G.

I give it to the steroid scandal because I think its the only one that could've truly, realistically, killed the WWE.

Owen. Died. In. The. Ring.
Eddie was sad, but he didn't die in front of a live crowd.

Other. When Vince was forced by the media to tell that wrestling was 'scripted' in the late 80s that was very bad.

If all of wrestling I would say the Mass Transit incident. But just WWF I have to go with Owen Hart. or Maybe even the lawsuit by the pandas.

Well, Steph compaired 9/11 to the steriod trial so it must be the worst.

Ill say Owens death was the biggest news, just because it was in front of a live crowd, and was a VERY dramatic way to die. Easy news story.
Internally though, the steroid trial was probably the biggest deal in terms of them perhaps getting closed down. Its weird though, as a young fan then who didn’t know a thing about the news (was it even on the news?) I never knew a thing about it. It was never talked about on WWF TV, and it didn’t seem to affect the quality of the show, so I didn’t knew anything had happened until I got older.

I got the news when my sister and a family friend were talking about Hogan taking steroids with McMahon backstage. As a little hulkamaniac I was crushed.

they had this black ring announcer in the late 80's who supposedly had sex with a ring boy or tried to. you'll see him if you watch the old wwe events from the 80's on wwe 24/7. i'm not sure what his name is but knowing they fired him because of that makes it kind of creepy to watch.
