Its a shame. A real shame. I was lucky enough to meet him back in October at a couple shows I was working. He was a very nice guy, and respectful of everyone. RIP, sir. It was nice to meet you when I could.
**EDIT** Added PWInsider conformation..
Former WCW and WWE star Chris Kanyon was found dead this morning. We are waiting on further details at this time. On behalf of everyone at the site, we issue our deepest condolences to Kanyon's family, friends and fans during this sad time.

GG and I recieved the report late last night and have been sitting on it for a long time waiting for confirmation from one of the other major pro wrestling news sites.
I can sadly tell you that it is true. Chris Kanyon (real name Chris Klucsaritis), known as Kanyon, Mortis, and a few other alter egos, passed away due to suicide late last evening in his apartment in New York. It appears to be a suicide due to an overdose – we are unsure if it was accidental or not. He just turned 40 2 months ago.
Kanyon worked in both the WWF and WCW. His biggest moments in the business were when he came out as the character Mortis, managed by Jim Mitchell in WCW in the late 90s when WCW tried to capitalize on the Mortal Kombat craze. Mortis was supposed to be a copy of Reptile from the video game, a reptilian ninja. Later on, Kanyon became a member of Raven’s Flock and the Jersey Triad stable with DDP and the late Bam Bam Bigelow. He created the infamous “Who better than Kanyon” catchphrase that would follow him his entire career. When WWF bought WCW in 2001, Kanyon had a brief stint there as US Champion and partner to DDP during the “stalker” angle. Kanyon was sent to OVW along with a number of WCW stars and was eventually brought back in 2003 for one or two TV appearances before being released.
Ironically, this comes mere days after TNA debuted the alleged first truly bisexual character in wrestling. Kanyon revealed himself to be homosexual a few years ago and claimed he was fired from WWE because of it. Pat Patterson, also a homosexual, worked for WWE for 30 years – so… that one is hard to swallow, no pun intended. Allegedly, Kanyon told a few reporters recently that the statement was a publicity stunt and that he was really a heterosexual. Despite whatever issues he had with WWE or some of his unusual antics, Kanyon was seen as one of the most versatile and creative in-ring performers in the business.
We wish the best for the family of Chris Kanyon in this difficult time.
