Okay after reading the Piggie James induction try to sell me that this was a good idea and not an awful waste of time. If it needed to be inducted, it would be because of the horrendous acting of all 3 women. I wouldn't have inducted it myself because there's so much other garbage from this year (like the NXT double dare challenges). From the standpoint of fooling marks and getting them to tune in to WWE programming, it was otherwise presented beautifully. It genuinely infuriated Mickie James' creepy, weirdly protective marks. I mean, whipped into a frenzy, even though the angle was obviously a work and not even Mickie herself, who was allegedly being "punished," sold it worth a damn because she, like McRibs and Layla, can't act to save her life. You know how in old wrestling footage from the 70s and 80s you would see angry grannies in the arena audiences giving the double thumbs-down? Despite this being the age of the interwebs and "reliable" dirtsheets, it was that exact same level of markishness among some of the interwebs' most hardcore smarks. I for one wouldn't be surprised if Joey Styles himself leaked the rumor about the angle being punishment for Mickie. For the specific purpose of whipping the marks into a frenzy. And I'd tip my hat to him for it, because it worked beautifully.

It started out, I thought it was a rib, and I was pissed. Not specifically because it was Mickie, but because I thought it was a terrible thing for the company to do in the PG Era, hanging a woman out to dry in public, because she didn't meet their physical expectation. (And let's be honest, at her heaviest, she wasn't "Fat". Scott Steiner wouldve never called her out on it)
I got less angry as the angle went on, and I was pleased to see that the Divas at least had an angle. It got better as it went, I thought the party segment with the cake drove it home, and was an effective heat builder. It drew in a lot of Mickie marks, the WWE proved that they are a lot more internet savvy than people are willing to let on.
The payoff sucked. Title squashes dont work, except in MITB cases.
The Beth angle of a similar nature wasn't amazing, but I laughed at the Superstars promo, just because of how well McCool and Layla sold it. The payoff for that was great, because it was a great match.

I don't get how this was a bad storyline. The heels were calling the face, names. We feel sorry for the face and hate the heels. Heels are wrong 90% of the time, so we were supposed to disagree and want the face, to kick their ass.
It's not sending out the wrong message at all. It's sending out the right message, that the bullies always get their commupence in the end. And they did. Yes, Michelle lost her title and won it back again, but that was only cause Mickie got an injury. It was the first time the divas ever got an actual STORYLINE since Trish Stratus vs Mickie James.
