The Shotblast and the Rattler. I was going to go swimming, and felt the need to give the new models a shot (pun intended), mostly on a lark. They were on clearance and I figured what the hell.
First impression, Shotblast:
Man, it sure looks cool (I got the blue model) but for it's size and cool factor, it's punch is a little disappointing. It's a true shotgun, suited mostly for close range. What miffs me the most is the lack of a trigger in general, whatever happened to pressurizing the gun then firing? This seems to be the case all over the board on most of the new ones.
First impression, Rattler:
Much smaller than the Shotblast, but it outranges it and packs more pressure behind the stream than the alleged bigger and badder gun of the same line. Still suffers from the "why don't I have a trigger, whatever happened to the pump design?" factor that all 2009-2010 Nerf Soakers have, but, what can ya do. This one is definitely the winner between the two, and I believe it costs less.
I'm still wondering what exactly happened to the design of the Super Soaker, it seems the only ones that you pump and build up air pressure on anymore are the Transformers and Iron Man themed guns. And I couldn't find either of those in the store today. The Rattler seems to pack the same sort of punch and range of a similarly sized Soaker of years gone by, and the ability to rapid fire it just the same as the Shotblast is cool, but maybe it's just my nostalgic mentality for the days of the old ones.
In my day, those things had enough pressure and oomph behind them to put an eye out. And that's the way we liked it!
In all, Shotblast...meh, Rattler... surprisingly cool.
This has been a random "stfu Void you're too old for this shit anyway" thread.
