With people comparing Miami to the nWo, as well as saying they're gonna get every call, I guess it's only a matter of time until they get their Nick Patrick.

I still can't stop rolling my eyes at this being a "betrayal" and LeBron being "selfish" by leaving. His complete and total mockery of an announcement show was selfish, but leaving isn't even close. Gilbert doesn't want to look in the mirror and see the real person at fault for not being able to bring a title to Cleveland. He just did something I didn't think anyone would be able to do over the next 48 hours. Come off as more childish than the Cleveland fans themselves. Dude didn't pull a Kobe and demand to be traded in the middle of a contract. His deal expired, he went to a better place. Attention whore or not, it's good business. Gilbert just came off like a joke. At this point I hope LeBron comes in to Cleveland in November or December and drops another 50 point triple double. I do feel sorry for the Cav fans who aren't acting like over grown 10 year olds. Friggin' horrible for them in fact. To the rest, I hope every time they see LeBron he's crushing it.

we all have to agree though that the cavs fans did over-react and after the season is over the cavs are going to be forgotten like the clippers

I understand Gilbert is pissed, but LeBron didn't desert anything, nor is he a coward. He went to what he felt was a better situation. No one is arguing with that. The way he did it was bad business. THIS. He left a glimmer of hope he would come back (knowing all along that wasnt the case) and then via the most public forum ever, gave a huge f*** you to the fans of Cleveland. And lost in all this was Wade stringing Chicago along the whole time

I think it's also a loss to people trying to get into the NBA as well. When they pull this kind of childish immature stuff it's really hard to get into.

BTW, the cap space is done. Beasley just got sent to Minnesota for the Wolves 2011 second round pick.

LeBron needs to spray paint nWo on Gilbert's back.

From a marketing standpoint for the NBA, ESPN etc it's a brilliant move.
Cuz now they've got a few months to construct the whole storyline of LeBron returning to Cleveland, put it on national primetime, ( if they're smart they'll do it around the annual Christmas doubleheader) and guarantee MONSTER ratings.

That letter to the Cavs fans was both hilarious & pathetic. There's honestly no need to act that classlessly. There's no need to return whatever disrespect you felt LBJ dished out. You're the freakin' owner of the team. You should be better than that, and you should certainly know not to use double negatives, especially with an emphasis on them.
LeBron wants to win a title. It's damn obvious that wasn't going to happen in Cleveland. You didn't get him the help he needed. He left. Why should this surprise you? He's going to do what's in his best interest. He shouldn't have to shoulder the burden of an entire state. That's simply unfair to him. He wants to win championships instead of earn a bigger paycheck. That makes him okay in my book. The fact that he had to leave that dump of a team, taking all 60+ wins with him, is simply circumstantial. That was his home. That was his team. Leaving to go to somebody else's should show you exactly how badly he wanted to win titles. He may have burned the bridge, but you set fire to the ashes that remained. That doesn't help anybody.

BTW, the cap space is done. Beasley just got sent to Minnesota for the Wolves 2011 second round pick. So now, thanks to cap space, the Heat have 5 signed players and 3 unsigned draft picks....that's just great. At this rate will they even be able to field a team this year? They might if they scrape the bottom of the free agent barrel for guys who will take IOUs....

Dan Gilbert unleashes on LeBron James in a letter to Cleveland fans: www.nba.com/cavaliers/news/gilbert_letter_100708.htmllol@ guaranteeing the Cavs winning a title. WojYahooNBA Cavs owner goes on and on ripping LeBron James, but the letter is missing a P.S.to the fans: "I'm sorry I enabled him all those years." wow just wow Cleveland is very taking this seriously i know he's been playing for them since his debut but these things happen you can't stay on the same team your entire career

That has to be a Christmas Day game. Give me that with Boston vs. Orlando and LA vs. Oklahoma City and I'll be parked on the couch all day.

Unless you count the draft-day deal for Vlade Divac, Kobe has been with his team his entire career. That worked out pretty well. Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker have been with their team their whole careers. Paul Pierce has committed once again to the Boston Celtics. Kevin Durant, after just two seasons, happily committed to his team for the foreseeable future. And the big issue is not that LeBron left. The issue is that he acted like a spoiled brat and used his juice to get an hour-long special devoted to him on ESPN in prime time, the entirety of which was basically a giant middle finger to every single fan of LeBron James, every single fan of the Cavaliers, and every single person in Cleveland. Miami presumably will be filling their roster with league-minimum players. Pops Mensah-Bonsu. Tony Battie. Shelden Williams. Luther Head. Fabricio Oberto. Yakhouba Diawara. Kevin Ollie. D.J. Mbenga. Joe Alexander. Brian Cook. Aaron Gray. Devin Brown. Those are the players Miami is allowed to sign in going over the cap. You can't win with that caliber of player. When the Bulls were winning titles, you had MJ/Scottie/Horace and MJ/Scottie/Rodman. But in the first three-peat, they had an aging but effective Cartwright; a skilled point guard duo; and able but limited big men. The second go-round had a pair of 20-point scorers in Harp and Kukoc giving up numbers for the team, while Kerr, Longley and Wennington provided defined role player spots. The same story can be told about the Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, Rockets, and Spurs over the past few decades. The Heat are hamstringing themselves.
