With the way alot of people are obessed with ratings and review scores these days, it seems folks are more cautious with their entertainment purchases. So do you any of you just buy any blindly? Buying games without seeing any reviews, buying movies without having seen it in theatre's first.
I actually do it quite a bit, and I always seem to luck out, because I rarely buy anything like that and turn out to be dissapointed with it.
How about the rest of you?

Occasionally I'll find myself going "I'm bored and currently have disposable income. TO GAMESTOP!!"
So, yeah, every now & then I buy without checking reviews. Can't really think of any times I've regretted it, either.

I guess I could also say buying movies without renting them first either.

Yeah I've done this with a lot of CDs, Jackyl's new one, Lady GaGa, it goes on and on. I have done this with games too, but I can't think of any examples.

I have 48 Blu Rays, and most of them have been bought without me seeing the movie first, the most recent being Kick-Ass.

Depends on the kind of entertainment.
With video games I follow the reviews, since a game with broken or buggy gameplay is always pretty obvious.
When I buy/rent/go see a movie, I'll occasionally look at a review, but only if I think the movie looks fun- and even then, a poor review might not be enough to turn me away.
I don't follow music critics. To me, it's too subjective an art form.

The only time I will blind buy a movie is if it's on the Criterion Collection.

On video games I check reviews to see about glitches, controls, and bugs just like Clash said.
I buy/watch movies and shows blindly here and there. Usually off of recommendations from people I'm friends with though. It helps that 90% of the time I find myself completely opposing the opinion of any big national critic. Sorry, all movies shouldn't be judged on the same scale.

I've bought DVDs without seeing them in the past and it has paid off.
Stuff like all three seasons of Veroinca Mars about three months ago for example and I watched it all in a span of three weeks
And I never got to see Rambo when it was out a couple of years ago so I got the special edition the day it came out and never regretted it.

On movies, only when they are in the Walmart big discount bin, and even then I have to know something about the movie first. On music, if its an artist I'm already a fan of. I won't pick up anyone new without hearing something from them first. On games, never.
I guess I'm one of the cautious folks you're talking about.

For movies, all the time. If I see a movie I wanna see I'll usually just buy it. Games I'm usually more selective

I do this with movies sometimes. I just go by the cover art and who's in it.

I'll blindly buy a movie if it is something I'm pretty sure I will like: the story, the actor, maybe based on the director. I've been burnt only a couple of times this way thankfully.
Videogames - depends on the cost. If it's a cheap one then maybe, but I'll stick with what I like best (survival horror, etc) if I decide to buy something without knowing all about it. There's no way I'll go spend 60 bucks on a game if I don't know anything about it.

I do it all the time. I have a couple hundred movies and have only probably seen a quarter of them.
With games, I'll do it if I can get something real cheap or it's a sequel to something I loved.

I might look at reviews, but I pretty much never buy games based on them, I'll buy games based on what I think looks interesting and then groan later if it's a glitchy mess (ie: the Prince of Persia syndrome).

With video games, if it is $20 or less I don't really care what reviews say. If it is $10 or less, I almost always buy it on the spot.

I used to blind buy movies all the time. These days I really only blind buy two or three movies a year now. I actually really don't buy too many movies in general at all anymore, since I feel it's kind of a waste of money. I just buy the movies that I really want, or if I can find them at a cheap price than I'll get it.
For videogames I never ever blind buy. I always check the reviews, or play the demo before I purchase a game. With games it's a lot different since games are a lot more expensive than movies, plus if it's a game that sucks your pretty much forced to play it since you paid $50-$60 for it, while with a movie if it sucks it only cost $15-$20 and you just watch it once.

That's why you avoid buying games you don't absolutely want until they are $30 or less, that way the sting hurts less if it sucks.

I'll buy almost any pre-owned PS2 RPG. They usually cost under 10 dollars, under 15 max. It's worth the roll of the dice, I feel, and you can find some overlooked decent games, like Steambot Chronicles.
