On September 4, 1995, the first shot in the Monday Night Wars was officially fired as Monday Nitro debuted from the Mall of America. I believe it was Hogan vs. Ray Traylor in the main event.
I remember sitting in my room watching it, not knowing at the time that it would change pro wrestling forever. Hard to believe it's been 11 years already.

Wow! I remember that night, Raw was pre-empted because of tennis so Nitro debuted without competition. Pillman/Liger, Sting/Flair, Hogan/Big Bubba were great. I can't believe I was 10 when that happened

Ravishing Rick Rude was the only man to appear on both shows at the same time.

Wow, been that long already? If I had done what most people do on their 21st birthday, I would have attributed the Luger appearance to a bad drinking binge.
"Luger's here? I just seen him on WWF Superstars yesterday! Must be the booze."
Didn't they have the show at the MOA because PastaMania was opening the same week?

Ravishing Rick Rude was the only man to appear on both shows at the same time. Until the final Nitro, at least.

Good times. That was a great feature on the first Nitro.
I remember being shocked to see Luger. I didn't KNOW at the time that was going to happen...

Luger told him he was staying with the company Too bad stuff like that cant happen today...everythings all "ironclad" and everyone knows exactly whats happening... Anyway, I love how Nitro got a 2.5 and they say on the Monday Night Wars DVD that it was "no where close to what RAW was doing in the ratings", but the next week, RAW got the SAME rating...

Ah yes, I remember I was in 3rd grade. Of course being Labor Day, I was off school for the day, so my best friend came over at about 10 AM and we put on one of our wrestling shows on my trampoline almost all day. In fact I think we did a WCW show since it was WCW's big day.
I remember when Nitro started, I was thinking how awesome it was going to be the next week when Raw was back and we'd have 2 WRESTLING SHOWS on at the same time!!!
When Luger came out I was VERY shocked. I remember the second he appeared, my phone rang and it was the friend who was over that day and he said, ARE YOU SEEING THIS! and I just said yeah, and we both just hung up at the same time, lol.
