They weren't bad for a freak show type of gimmick. They might have not been serious but it was funny. They had cool theme music youtube.com/watch?v=IPHyU2D4DJw

They were on when I liked Insane Clown Posse, so I liked them.
Ahh, ICP. When I was young I took them seriously and I loved them, then I took them seriously and I hated them for a while. Now I've stopped taking them seriously and I love them again.
Huzzah for being a grown up!
Can I get a huzzah from everyone present?!
Anyway, furthermore, Headbagers feud = lovely and shiny. As was everything they did.

The Circus of Human Oddities, eh? Sucked. oh, don't get me wrong, the Jackyl phase was pretty good. The Sable and ICP, and post phase? Yeah, that sucked. Okay, watching a guy named Violent J get beat up by Mosh was fun. It would have been better if Jeff Jarret got in on the feud. "You call yourelf Violent J? Well, I'm Double J. STROOOOOKE!!! Now that Violent Double J to you. circus clown. You're next, Fattie 2 Fat. Don't tick me off." But other than that, it seemed like a dumping ground for workers without a marketable look.

Their biggest problem was that they needed a legitimate leader/mouthpiece, and not just Sable trying to get them over. The Golga character was mute, which left Silva, who didn't speak English, and Kurggan, who was French Canadian (?) and sounded like he had a mouth full of marbles. Luna would have been the natural talker, but I got the feeling they didn't trust her in that role as a babyface.
Count me in the group that liked them much better with the Jackyl, as brief as that was.

I kinda liked them, they did get pretty damn over to be fair. Many aspects of it were proper random (like Golga's weird obsession with Cartman and that angry dwarf guy), but at the time I was into them.

I kinda liked them, they did get pretty damn over to be fair. Many aspects of it were proper random (like Golga's weird obsession with Cartman and that angry dwarf guy), but at the time I was into them. South Park was HUGE at that point - 1998; this woulda been about a year after the show debuted. The WWF grabbed onto its popularity in 2 ways - (a) the Golga Cartman doll thing, and (b) Billy Gunn wearing various T-shirts during the early days/rise of the NOA. But unlike most pop culture things they latch onto, it worked for whatever reason and they didn't seem to overdo it and thus kill their connection to it. Also, IIRC the angry dwarf was Hank from the Howard Stern show. He was also popular (and actually lived in the town over from me - found this out when he died and Stern went to the funeral) but I don't know if his popularity has carried on through the years in the same way as South Park's.

I agree. It was just for fun. Kinda like what Hornswoggle's purpose should be. The booking then was smart. Opening match at SS. Low angle fueds on RAW. They didn't over use them by making them tag champs and giving Golga, Kurrgan and Silva the Freebirds rule... nowadays regardless what it is, if a character or gimmick get a decent pop its immediate thrown into a high angle storyline.

I actually joined this forum (even though I post once in a blue moon) because of a thread slagging on Giant Silva. I was pretty souped about Giant Silva being in the Oddities because he lives in Down-neck Newark (AKA: The East Ward, Ironbound). It was kind of cool to go to the Pathmark at Ferry Plaza, or the Coutinho's bakery on Wilson, and see him walking around shopping. His wife actually manages the Curves that my mom goes to. So he's kind of a hometown favorite.

they were good, they were meant to be funny and were actually fun for a while. Were they against the headbangers? I thought they would of fit with them perfectly?

They were awesome...great comic relief....their match at Summerslam 1998 did it's job of pumping up the crowd and providing laughs....what a squash match should do

Came across this Shotgun match from when they were still with the Jackyl. I personally preferred them as evil sideshow monsters. Love the music. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zor1Cue1_Xk
