I just scanned through the thread about Jimmy Yang Wang (or Wang Yang), where the person who started the post declared it Crap and the new Gooker...after two vignettes. Let's look at our track record over the past year regarding gimmicks, shall we? Boogeyman: EVERYONE trashed this before seeing it, even RD. Once he got started, pretty much everyone completely agreed that while terrible in the ring, Boogey played the gimmick better than anyone could've possibly predicted. Pirate Burchill: "WHY? " That was the main reaction on hearing that evil Stephanie was turning IWC Darling Paul Burchill into a pirate. And whoops...again, we were all impressed with how well Burchill ran with the gimmick. Plus, we got better matches than with Boogeyman to boot. King Booker: Granted, at least half the board loved Booker T before the King gimmick, but his masterful playing of the role has converted some of his previous detractors into fans. The point of this is we've sucked at picking which gimmicks will fail. This Asian Cowboy thing could be good fun. The guy's a talent in the ring, and it's a gimmick that hasn't really been done before; at the very least, it hasn't been done to death. If it sucks after a few months, fine. Trash it, put it in the Gooker voting. But the guy hasn't even had a match yet. It's getting old. Let the gimmick play out for awhile before trashing it. Just because you have a computer doesn't mean you know everything about everything. It's damn true. I guess what I'm saying is give Yang a chance. Hit the music. Allllll we are sayyyyinggggggg Is give Yang a chaaaaaannnnccceeeee Alllll we are sayyyinggggggg Is give Yang a chaaaaannnccceeeeee

I agree except about Birchill, the gimmick didn't get over, he came out and the fans were just sitting there, they didn't respond to his matches or his intro.

I still say Boogeyman is a deserving Gooker forerunner.
It's the Wrestlecrap board. People have always called 'crap on bad gimmicks, and it's not likely to end unless the board explodes.

Stupid question - didn't we all find this website because we actually understand the entertainment value of "wrestlecrap"? I agree with the original poster, it seems EVERY time anyone debuts with a gimick other than "generic tough guy wrestler", people crap all over it. Personally, I can't get enough. I want japaneese cowboys, pirates, scientologists, the whole deal.

I'm not saying people aren't entitled to their opinions. I'm saying that people who crap on things well before they even start come across as incredibly ill-informed and petulant. It's like if I said "Man, the year 2007's gonna suck". I have no basis for this opinion, as the year 2007 hasn't started yet. I just come across as complaining with no basis, which makes me look like a whiny jerk.
Ps-The year 2009 is gonna RULE.

I just scanned through the thread about Jimmy Yang Wang (or Wang Yang), where the person who started the post declared it Crap and the new Gooker...after two vignettes. Let's look at our track record over the past year regarding gimmicks, shall we? Just because someone miraculously takes a gimmick and actually makes it work doesn't mean it's any less Gooker-worthy. Look at IRS. Despite the fact that, as stated in the induction, Mike Rotundo (sp?) was amazing in the role, it was still inducted into Wrestlecrap. Why? 3 words: Evil tax accountant. The gimmick itself was still crap. Same thing applies here. Boogeyman took the gimmick and ran with it, but the gimmick itself is still crap. And the gimmick itself went over about as well as a lead balloon. Actually, I'm veering heavily in the other direction. I was a Booker fan BEFORE the king gimmick. But the fake accent and the over-the-top bad acting makes me fast forward through his skits. That, and Sharmel (or William Regal) repeatedly shrieking "All hail king booker!" about 50 times monotonously makes me want to rip my own ears off. IMO, she deserves her own induction. With some exceptions, I've noticed the ones who get weekly skits before they debut in the ring usually end up being the ones that tank the fastest. Look at the Bushwhack....I mean the Highlanders. Cade and Murdoch. Sylvan. Tatanka. I expect Yang to be jobbing rather soon. Further, if you look through the "previous inductions" list, you'll notice that quite a large chunk of them got weekly promotional skits before they debuted. Off the top of my head: Outback jack, Skinner, Glacier, Bastion Booger, Duke the Dumpster Drose, Sisters of Mercy, El Matador, Nailz. I give everybody a chance, but I'm usually fairly accurate with my predictions on who will and won't tank. And I don't expect this one to get anywhere any time soon.

Don't tell us to stop it because everyone is entitled to there opinion. I think he was just suggesting we give stuff a chance, as opposed to repressing us.
