i have to admit throughout russos writing days he has gotten me to be suprised on a few occasions. I mean who would have thought goldberg, one of their biggest merchiendise sellers turning heel. Or who whould have wanted that is the bigger question?
But this is not what this thread is about. This about things that you saw him try to do to trick the fans and you knew it was going to happen a mile before the angle ended.
For me in his wcw writing i would have to say that it would be every time that russo tried to put to make two heels have friction on one night then at the end of the show , beat up the face and show they were together all along. The one that sticks in my mind the most was when jeff jarrette was being a fair ref in a booker t title defense against kevin nash and russo on commentary going crazy about this then in the swerve or non swerve jarrett hits booker t with his guitar allowing nash to do an unnessicary jack nife power bomb for a one two three and a new wcw champion.
For his tna writing i knew the second karen angle wanted a divorce that she would turn on joe at hard justice and i remeber telling my friends the week it came out that karen would turn on joe and angle would get all the gold. and much to my unsuprise the exact same thing happened.
one more i can think of would be the revealing of james mitchle being abysses father. I mean who didnt catch that so obvious one.

Actually, a recent NEWZletter revealed that Russo hasn't even touched Abyss. It was actually Abyss himself and Mantell.

"It's me, Austin! It was me all along!"
I just had a gut feeling it was going to be McMahon...and boy was I disappointed when it came true.

When David Arquette won the title. I said, "Let me guess. David Arquette is going to turn on DDP and help Jarrett win the title." Russo is not as brilliant of a booker as he thinks he is.

"It's me, Austin! It was me all along!" I just had a gut feeling it was going to be McMahon...and boy was I disappointed when it came true. could this be clarified a bit for me? i have some vague memory of it but can't recall the entire backstory For weeks, Undertaker kept talking about a "Power greater than I" that he answered to and that Austin would answer to, on the 5/31/99 Raw Austin gets attacked by the entire Corporate Ministry and gets tied up in the ropes after his match with Undertaker. The "Higher Power" comes down the aisle wearing the cloak so you can't see who he is, and gets right up to where Austin is being tied up and reveals himself to him only as the people in the arena can't see who it is and neither the people at home. The following week, it's announced that the "Higher Power" will be revealed sometime within the show. Shane goes to the ring with the Higher Power and Vince talks to him via the Titantron and says he may want to see who this guy is up close and personal, then apparently leaves. Seconds later it is revealed that McMahon was in the ring the whole time as he says the famous line "IT WAS ME AUSTIN!! IT WAS ME ALL ALONG!!" to a chorus of boos. Wasn't really earthshattering as the story didn't last that long and ended with the "End of a Era" match where McMahon had to "leave the WWF forever", which came out to about 2 months.

The bigger part of the story is the fact that for weeks (possibly months) prior to this, Vince McMahon and the Corporation were feuding with the Undertaker and his Ministry of Darkness. Undertaker had kidnapped Stephanie and tried to marry her in a black wedding on RAW. At the time, it made no sense that Vince would be the mastermind behind Stephanie being kidnapped. I guess it does make sense now, since Vince's character doesn't care about anyone, his family included. But at the time, it was completely ridiculous. I remember the big rumor at the time was the Higher Power was going to be Shawn Michaels, who had been off TV for a while at this point.

It was pretty soon after he died, I was young at the time so thought it could have been a work (like everything else in wrestling). And when Austin had a peak at him the week prior to the reveal, JR said on commentary "Austin looks like he has seen a ghost"...

Goldberg's heel turn at the Greatv American Bash 2000.
As soon as he entered the ring and primed for the spear, I knew he'd hit Nash and not Jarrett. Everything from the camera angle, to the announcers, to the stalling sealed this as a certain outcome.

well comeon u had to know it wasnt going ot happen on that nigh of couse u cna tell ushally some one will turn on some one before it happend but their is no way u could know it was going to happen on that night. That was directed at me right? Well honestly no, I didn't expect Goldberg to turn before he entered the ring. But when he did it was just painfully obvious. Keep in mind I didn't frequent the wrestling message boards or any insider news back then and just came to that conclusion. One of the reasons it was so easy to guess was based on the fact that the last three ppv main events prior to that show each had a significant turn which caused a face to lose. So why would I think differently? It wasn't like Goldberg just stormed in and destroyed everyone, like the Goldberg we'd come to known. He came in (please note this is all based on one 12 year olds memory from back then) beat up the Filthy Animals a bit and entered the ring. Now the match had been between heel WCW Champion Jeff Jarrett and face challenger Kevin Nash. This was also all during the New Blood angle where almost everyone not in the main event was a part of the stable. Nash and Jarret were slumped in the ring. Goldberg leaned down, motioning for the spear toward Jarrett. Ok now before I finish, I'll go back a few months. Spring Stampede 2000: The main event was Diamond Dallas Page against Jeff Jarrett for the vacant WCW Championship. One of the bi angles leading up to the match was that Jarrett had nailed Page's wife, Kimberly with a stray guitar shot weeks before. Late into the match Jarrett went for his guitar but Kimberly took it away. Page held Jarrett steady so Kimberly could get revenge against her attacker. She lined up the guitar to Jarrett's noggin and swung. But somehow completely missed Jarrett leading to his first title win. Slamboree 2000: This was during the infamous David Arquette title reign which had the world scratching it's head. The main event was the Triple Cage Match based on the design from the WCW movie 'Ready To Rumble' which had come out during this time. Inside the cage was face Champion David Arquette, challenger 1; his friend DDP and challenger 2; Jeff Jarrett. I can;t really remember the bulk of this match but in the top cage were a set of Jarrett guitars for anyone to use. TO win you had to reclaim the belt from the top cage and bring it down, not unlike any ladder match. So toward the end David Arquette was straddling the top cage apparently scared to death. Page and Jarrett had a slug out in the top cage with the guitars, missing each strike. Eventually the two reached the top and Page appeared to have it won. BUT surprise, surprise David Arquette nailed Page with a guitar shot knocking him off the top and leading to Jarrett winning his second title. So with all this in mind, I don't think it's too unlikely that I could correctly guess the outcome to the GAB main event. Though admittedly I didn't expect Goldberg to turn before the show. It didn't take a whole lot to give away the only ending WCW seemed to know at the time. Boom, one spear to Nash. 1, 2, 3 and still WCW Champion Jeff Jarrett.
