The witch is dead. Aka Matt Millen is dead!! I mean fired. Same thing probably.
What'd you do to celebrate? I drove around Allen Park today honking. Honked in your honor.
ESPN Quote of the Day: "Only the Lions can celebrate a victory during their Bye week."

The witch is dead. Aka Matt Millen is dead!! I mean fired. Same thing probably. What'd you do to celebrate? I drove around Allen Park today honking. Honked in your honor. ESPN Quote of the Day: "Only the Lions can celebrate a victory during their Bye week." I appreciate the honking in my honor. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to celebrate. I had to work, and then immediately upon returning home had to hit the bottle and do the WC radio show. By the time I finished, I am now a little buzzed, and a little angry and bitter upon reflection of the whole Millen era. He's gone, but it doesn't take away seven f'n wasted years. As a Lions fan, and yes, I stake the claim to being the biggest Lions fan on this board. For example, amongst all the horrible lost Lions bets to RD, despite the fact my favorite Lions memento I own is an authentic jersey of my favorite Lion ever - the unknown to 99.9% of the population - cornerback Jerry Holmes, and despite 24 years of loyalty, my biggest claim to being a diehard Lions fan is the fact that I once did a $2400.00 hardwood floor job for a guy. A guy who happened to own a sports card shop. I asked for no money. I received my payment in the form of $2400.00 worth of Detroit Lions sportscards. Back to the firing. The damage that Millen did to this team is incredible. He started his reign of terror by disposing of then-head coach, ex-Michigan HC Gary Moeller, and then the pseudo gas chamber elimination of the bulk of that team, which was a perennial playoff contender. That f***** jettisoned Charlie Batch, who had one of the highest rookie quarterback ratings in history, in favor of a piece of crap in the form of Joey Harrington. I'm so glad Charlie, the greatest Lions quarterback I've seen in my time, got a ring in Pittsburgh. He disposed of the two guys that helped the Lions be a force in the 90's, Herman Moore and Johnnie Morton, calling Morton a fag in the process. OL Jeff Hartings, a guy the Lions could've used to keep their QB's from getting knocked on their asses, was deemed expendable and ended up with Charlie in Pittsburgh. I could get into the bonehead drafts, and all the drafting WR's nonsense, and why it took so f'n incredibly long for the Fords to can him, but I won't. I could go on and on about the other mistakes, but I'm too drunk and tired. In regards to this whole situation, Tim Curry summed it up best in Rocky Horror Picture Show... "I'll remove the cause, but not the sympton." It's gonna be a long way back. This year is gonna suck. So will next year. But this is a start. This is a move which will pay off by the 2010 season. I will win the football bet with RD that year. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go finish my beer, and pop in a VHS tape of the Lions from when they were a force, back when they were killing teams in the Silverdome, and when Sundays were fun. And I swear on Lem, Billy and Barry, they will be that way again. The glory that those three brought, will return again.

Though I'd like to be happy for you and all Lion fans, I'm afraid with Matt Millen no longer gainfully employed, someone else might fall prey to his sexy mustache and hire him to be their GM.

. . . I asked for no money. I received my payment in the form of $2400.00 worth of Detroit Lions sportscards. . . . I have a difficult time believing that there's $2400 worth of Detroit Lions sports cards in the universe. But there's got to be like $2.50 worth of cardboard and ink in re-sell value.
