Seeing a reference to him on another board here got me thinking about the totality WWF career.
So his main match was a tag match with Savage against Hogan and Beefcake at SummerSlam 89. Then they wrestled again at a SNME or something (or perhaps a weird-for-those-days special PPV - I never saw it, obviously).
Now booking wise.....that SHOULD'VE been the last we saw of him, you'd think.
But then a few months later, he was at the Survivor Series with DiBiase, and he got DQ'ed almost immediately in their match against Hogan's team.
And after that..............well, that's it.
So did his WWF career basically end with a DQ in a Survivor Series elimination match? Or was there some Hogan vs. Zeus blowoff match that I've never known of which followed that?

Of course Zues later on returned for a short stint during Hogan's WCW days as "Z-Gangsta". I think that was the end of it there.

"No Holds Barred: The Match! The Movie!" on PPV. Vince was gonna milk this horrible idea for all it was worth. The only smart move was having him teamed up with Savage, who actually knew what he was doing.

Nothing was really solved at the Survivor Series, as Zeus got himself DQed when he wouldn't release a chokehold on Hogan, and after Hogan's team won, Savage and Zeus jumped Beefcake/Hogan in the back and laid them out. Still I don't know why they had him come back after he was pinned at Summerslam, but whatever I just knew I was scared to death of the guy. |

As others have stated, the feud ended in December 1989 during the steel cage match where Hogan dropped 3 leg drops on Zeus and pinned him. As for why they extended the feud past Summerslam, probably to continue promoting the movie. Hogan pinned Zeus at Summerslam after hitting him with a loaded purse, so it wasn't the clean decisive win that usually ends feuds, and that gave them the opportunity to extend it.
I liked the feud, personally.

Given how a few of the wrestlers allegedly wanted Mr. T dead in 1985 for coming in and getting a spot in the WM1 main event, I wonder what the attitude in the locker room was toward Zeus in '89.
He had maybe a dozen TV appearances tops, never did house shows, and yet he faced Hogan on three consecutive PPVs. Those were the paydays everyone wanted.

Hogan mentions in his book that they were instructed to be gentle with him. |

When I started readin' this thread, this was EXACTLY what I was thinkin'! DiBiase and Savage were breakin' their asses, workin' more than 3 weeks every month, only to be saddled with Tiny Lister?
