Wasn`t that when he was working a drunk gimmick? He may or may not have actually been drunk too though.

It was a work, but it was done off of his real life problems. Hall didn't like it and thought it was in poor taste as he states in his shoot interview. Also, WWF was doing the same exact thing with Road Warrior Hawk around that same time. This angle had nothing at all to do with the demise of WCW, as it only lasted a couple of months in mid 1998.

I thought it was stupid. because they used the gimmick that he was drunk for an almost 15 minute ppv match. (See: Konnan vs Scott Hall)

When he puked that one time I completely thought it was real, especially since I had seem him drunk off his ass during the Nitro at Spring Break show. Then I felt mad when I found out they were making light of the whole thing.

Was this not the same Nitro where Flair went on his famous, emotional tirade about Bischoff? "FIRE ME! I'M ALREADY FIRED!"
If so, I've got this on VHS somewhere. Definitely a night that Sleazy E would probably prefer to forget he booked.
EDIT: I just watched the video, and it was indeed the same show...in fact, I believe it was the SEGMENT AFTER Flair went off on Bischoff. I recall watching this back in 1998 and thinking that Hall could indeed be drunk, and if he was, that show spun so quickly out of control that Bischoff wouldn't have a job.

Why would Bischoff want to forget he booked it? Apart from the Hall acting drunk deal, this was a good show,IMO and had a solid main event with Sting/Goldberg which I also uploaded.

I say it is more degrading to have Virigil/Vincent in your corner than being depicted as a drunk.

I think Flair going absolutely apeshit on Sleazy E during the course of the broadcast and having one helluva lot of people booing him out of the building out of sheer hate (not just heel-kayfabe hate) and then coupled with the idiocy of Hall acting drunk, as well as the bad press it got would show this wasn't Bisch's finest show. That's just me, though, because I enjoyed a couple things too, and was in tears for Flair's return.

I think Bischoff would want that as he's the heel in this case, and he'd get lots of heat on the Nitro broadcasts. Flair rants a lot,it's his schtick and it was a worked shoot. Here's the match between the two later that year: www.dailymotion.com/Stinger1981/video/x3glhh_ric-flair-vs-eric-bischoff_sportIt may not have been his finest, but it wasn't that bad either, especially with a hot main event like Sting/Goldberg. Also, for the Hall thing, as I mentioned earlier, WWF was doing the same exact thing with Road Warrior Hawk right around that time period, so it's not like WCW was the only promotion guilty of such a thing.

Nor did I wish to make it out like WCW was the only promotion doing so. However, the thing in Titan Land was immediately quelled and they issued a public apology. Hawk wasn't even drunk, and they apologized. Meanwhile, WCW hunkered down and claimed it was just everyone crapping on wrestling, never mind the fact that segments like this would be crapped on everywhere, not just in pro wrestling.
At any rate, thanks for the ups. Definitely a show that sticks out in my mind.

Didn't know WWE apologized for it, but still they'd go on to make more silly storylines since that time which they didnt' apologize for.

Christ, I don't wanna give them ideas...if they'd do Katie Vick, i'm sure they'd do a feces storyline.

I recall watching this back in 1998 and thinking that Hall could indeed be drunk, and if he was, that show spun so quickly out of control that Bischoff wouldn't have a job. I grew up watching Ric Flair. To think that all these years later, WCW would (crap) one their one big star (besides Sting) and rely on all those washed-up, has-been WWF stars to carry their promotion. WCW should have relied on their own talent instead of becoming a carbon-copy of what WWF was. (I offer no apologies for the last statement - I grew up watching NWA/WCW. As far as I'm concerned, Hulk Hogan is a fraud and can't hold a lick to Flair's sweaty jockstrap.) I think Flair going absolutely apecrap on Sleazy E during the course of the broadcast and having one helluva lot of people booing him out of the building out of sheer hate (not just heel-kayfabe hate) and then coupled with the idiocy of Hall acting drunk, as well as the bad press it got would show this wasn't Bisch's finest show. I'm right there with ya. A buddy got me into wrestling in 1996, and WCW is what I was watching because of the nWo. Years later, I'm glda, because that gave me the chance to cut my teeth on old school NWA wrestling, which remains my favorite style to date.
Nothing against the newer stuff...a lot of it is really great. But I'll take a mat technician over a high flyin' pretty boy any day.

He sure acts drunk well. I thought for a second that they took a still from that in the Death of WCW book.
