XFL was a "joke" everywhere except here. the Orlando Rage were very popular, a lot of people were going to the games, and it was nice to have an actual team to get behind that wasn't going to just disappoint you (aka the Magic were in the toilet back then)

I had a coworker that is so far to the Right that he actually blames the failure of the XFL on Clinton and the Liberal Media

Unfortunately, with NBC as a co-partner in the venture, the expectations for TV ratings were way too high. I think that there's still room for a spring outdoor pro football league in the USA. The NFL season is so short, relatively speaking.

Is there anybody that played in the XFL currently playing in any of the other leagues [Arena Football League (AFL), Canadian Football League (CFL), National Football League (NFL)]?

I had a coworker that is so far to the Right that he actually blames the failure of the XFL on Clinton and the Liberal Media I blame it on "He Hate Me" It would just be, "He" As in, He destroyed the XFL. RRA: Clinton hating was very big in the late 90s. Not as big as it was during Pardongate, but still big. Unless you were wondering how Clinton crushed the XFL? Well, if you ask Vince, the government has been out to get him for years. :-)

Surely Clinton was too busy getting a blowjob to bother with such things as helping to destroy a suck-ass football league.

The XFL could have worked if everyone tempered their expectations. But no the hype machine went all out and they expected too much.

I had a coworker that is so far to the Right that he actually blames the failure of the XFL on Clinton and the Liberal Media Yeah I have a response....What? that was pretty much my reaction when he said that. We started talking about the college in the area, ECU, which Vince attended and how it's surprising given that since Vince is a great businessman that the business program should capitalize on that fact. I brought up that his only real failure was the XFL, which started my coworker on a anti-Clinton and "Liberal media" rant. What is there to gain really? Wouldn't having sports to watch take our attention away from any wrongdoing? I really can't win with the crop of co-workers fate has given me. I went from "Clinton killed the XFL" to people that can't spell "XFL"

Is there anybody that played in the XFL currently playing in any of the other leagues [Arena Football League (AFL), Canadian Football League (CFL), National Football League (NFL)]? Rod Smart(He Hate Me) played several seasons in the NFL for the Eagles and Panthers. Tommy Maddox took the Steelers to the playoffs and was actually the starter when the Steelers drafted Ben Rothlesberger. Big Ben replaced Maddox and went on a tear. Mike Furrey is currently on the the Detroit Lions. And the AFL has alot of former XFL players. As for the league in general, 2 things contributed to it's demise. First was Vince McMahon. Now, Vince is a savvy businessman and did put on a pretty good football league but no one took it seriously because of Vince's wrestling roots. I remember hearing people sometimes believing that the games might be a work. But for the most part, alot of people's hatred for anything professional wrestling contributed toward their apathy of the XFL. In other words, if anyone but Vince started this leagie it might still be around. The 2nd reason is connected with the first and that was the constant bringing in of wrestlers to promote the league.

The reason the league folded was because NBC pulled out. Why did NBC pull out? Because the XFL had the lowest rating for any prime time network tv show in history at that point.
