well...
E&C Christian and Captain Charisma are very similar, but I have to give the nod to Captain Charisma cause that's when he started to Shine and who everyone it wasn't just edge. The music was great (waterproof blond, and he made that generic beat Tomko was using work), the aj knockoff was great, and he turned into a catchphrase machine.

I've loved every version of Christian from his Gangrel mimickry to his "totally awesome dude" E&C personality to when he proclaimed himself the New People's Champion in a segment with The Rock on Raw. I'm still amazed to this day how well "the peeps" caught on after that. Damn, if I had to pick one though, it's Captain Charisma. That was too awesome for words. I'm glad I have all his appearances on Raw as CC on DVD for posterity.

what time period is that last choice. WHen he still had long hair but was all terrible? I believe that "Solo heel (post edge/pre-CCC)" may be referring to when he was in the Un-Americans?

It may also refer to his temper tantrum faze, and having to get DDP to make him feel better about himself.
I maybe the only person who loved that DDP. But that's not a bad thing. That's a good thing. ;D

E&C promos were always gold, so I had to go with that. The two really played well off of each other, not to mention having great matches where they brought themselves to the limit every time they got in the ring. Glory days to be sure.
To be honest though, I can hardly remember exactly how the Brood storyline worked. I remember Gangrel originally was teamed with one of them, then the other started to do run-ins until they announced that the two were brothers, and then they turned the good one into a "vampire-like creature" as well. Someone fill in the holes?

Gangrel and Edge were feuding.
Gangrel bring in Edge's brother to mess with Edge's head, that being Christian.
They come together as the Brood eventually. I think some holes need to be filled in for me too, lol.

Gangrel was feuding with edge. Christian comes in as edges brother to screw with him. Eventually Gangrel and Christian convince Edge to join them forming The brood. Edge + Christian teamed up leaving Gangrel going in the singles division. Eventually E and C broke off from gangrel and Gangrel joined the Hardyz making the new brood.

Why did edge call him "buddy" twice and not his brother? What is that about?

I liked him best when he was insane, after he broke away from Edge in 2001.

Captain Charisma. I never got to see him in his E&C days, so I can't comment.
His speech in Calgary (biased crowd aside) was nothing short of brilliant.
