It was actually JR's colonoscopy skit that won it last year. It starred Dr. Heiny and Nurse Slobberknockers.

RD himself did in his review of Mania IX, but if had been up for a vote it've probably been Shockmaster. So the Gooker was born in 1990. What would've won in 91? Probably GAB'91 where they kept chanting for Flair, but I'd lean towards Sgt. Slaughter, Iraqi turncoat for sheer unadulterated tastelessness.

1995 would have to be the skits that debuted the Dungeon Of Doom, which brought us such phrases as "IT'S NOT HOT!" and "THERE'S NO HULKAMANIACS IN HERE!"

My picks for pre-2000 Gookers:
1990: Gobbledy Gooker 1991: Sgt. Slaughter, Iraqi Supporter 1992: Papa Shango Hexes Warrior 1993: Shockmaster 1994: Hogan debuts in WCW, gets booed out of the building 1995: King Mabel, that year's KOTR. 1996: pretty much everything sucked. Maybe fake Ramon and Diesel. 1997: Montreal Screwjob 1998: Parents' Television Council attempts to censor WWF 1999: Val Venis Castration Angle

I'd add:
'99...well, as someone else said, Choppy Choppy took place in '98. How about: Welcome to the Russo Era of WCW; the Russotastic Rumble '99; Enter The Hummer; Hello, Godfather, Venis, Road Dogg, etc...goodbye I-C Credibility; and Sewage Wars (aka Savage vs. Nash)? BTW as per R.D.'s unwritten rules, I will mention nothing to do with the Blue Blazer. '98...Three letters...O.W.N. And for you I'll move Choppy Choppy here :-) How about the Celebrity Invasion of WCW? And back to the WWF, the Fall of Vader? '97...Hogan vs. Sting: the fast count that wasn't; the GANG WARZ~!; Rocky Maivia: Blue Chipper. Also, NWO Souled Out; Age In A Cage; the REAL Toilet Bowl: McMichael vs. White; and OMG RODMAN DID AN ARMDRAG HE'S A WRESTLING GOD!!!!!!111111 Also, would "I lost my smile" qualify? I'd also bring up the Melanie Pillman interview, but again there's R.D.'s Unwritten Rules to consider. '96...Doomsday Cage Match? The Crappy Gimmick World Order invades the WWF (Hopper, Floyd, Sincere, Goon, Who)? '95...Uncensored '95? Evad vs. DDP feud? '94...Starrcade Main Event...featuring Ed Leslie? Austin loses to Duggan in 20 seconds (nah, that was hilarious in retrospect, now that me and my friends can't stant Austin)? Clowns-R-Us vs. The Royal Family? '93...the Four Doinks match? Giant Gonzalez? The gimmick misadventures of Mike Shaw? The Mini-Movie Trilogy Episodes II and III? LOST IN FRICKIN' CLEVELAND??? '92...the fall of the WBF? The fall of Global (too many Wrestlecrap worthy gimmicks to name)? Halloween Havoc '92...to quote PWI at the time, "The Barbarian...A WORLD TITLE CONTENDER?!!?" Spin the Wheel, Make...another boring "...on a pole" match? Not to mention Mini-Movie Episode I debuted here. '91...PN News, Oz, Desperadoes, Johnny B. Badd, Bash '91/Flair Protest...can you tell much of this year was bad for WCW? '90...Gooker will win because it's HIS award. But let us not forget Amanda Ultimate Warrior, SNME features Wild Kingdom and the Oktoberfest, the presence of the Black Scorpion, the rise of El Gigante, Robocop, Ole's Good Ol' Boys Invasion...why, there were a lot of flaws in WCW this year too. And then there was the deathbed stay for the AWA...three words: TEAM CHALLENGE SERIES.
PTC was hilarious just because of their insane recaps of Smackdown on their websites. I need to try the Internet Wayback Machine to read those again. (example: HHH snake bite angle is likened to deaths caused by kids imitating wrestling holds)
I'm betting a lot of us wish the PTC would try to censor some of the stuff we've seen in the last 4 years...
Now here's a challenge...let's see how far back into the '80s (and beyond?) we can get! And let's not forget the federations that weren't WWF or NWA/WCW!

I'd have to disagree with those that say the Montreal screwjob would have been the 97 gooker. think about it, it led to the birth of one of wrestlings best heels ever in Mr. McMahon and to arguably the biggest feud of the Monday Night Wars--Austin vs McMahon. If Vince didnt screw Bret, there would have never been a Mr. McMahon character for Austin to feud with. If anything, that helped WWE.
I cant say what would have been the 97 gooker since I dont really recall much of what happened then.

As for the '97 Gooker... - The Gang Warz - Age In A Cage - Mongo vs. Reggie White - Hogan vs. Sting: the fast count that wasn't - Dennis Rodman, pro wrestler - HBK loses his smile (inadmissable?) - NWO Souled Out - Rocky Maivia: Blue Chipper - Prince Iaukea: Indigo Chopper - Melanie Pillman interview (inadmissable?) - Rockabilly And anyone who wants to keep the list going, feel free to help out.

Slaughter turned in the summer of 1990. I would NOT consider him for the 1991 award as he was face again by the fall of 1991.
