Ah, but in 1990, he wasn't really an Iraqi sympathizer, just a militarist who was mad we made peace with the Russians, and feuded with Nikolai Volkoff. He played up the war in 1991 when he had the title, and fans started turning away from the WWF in droves because of them exploiting the war.
I couldn't remember if Venis was 98 or 99. Switch them. Venis' castration wins for 1998, and the PTC's crusade, which continued up into 2000, wins for 1999.

I'd consider it leaning towards 1991, as the angle also finished up in that year (plus you had the "I want my country back!" skits as icing on the cake) So now, how about the '80s Gookers?
