Recently, I've been trying to teach my freinds a bit about wrestling psychology. Mostly how to tell a story in a match, and what makes a good match. We've gone over many different scenarios, and how they could be done in a match. But, there was one scenario no one could come up with an answer for. Maybe one of you guys could help me.
Excluding squash matches, how can a Heel win cleanly, and have the match still be entertaining and realistic, when he's wrestling a Face of about the same standing?
I hope that was easy enough to understasnd. I had a difficult time wording it.

See: Sting VS Flair, Clash of the Champions 1.
Technically, it was a draw. But I got one.
See: Flair Vs Steamboat, Wrestlewar 89.

a heel used heel tactics during a match to get heat.
after back and forth action, the face launches his final series and gets very close to finishing the heel off.
Usually have the heel dodge/reverse finisher and come out of nowhere with his.

I think a heel shouldn't be able to squash a face of about equal standing cleanly. The face's standing will plummet if that happens, or the heel's skyrocket. See Red Rooster vs. Ted Dibiase for the former (Rooster was a midcarder until he got sleepered out by the Million Dollar Dream like any other jobber) or Undertaker vs. Jimmy Snuka for the latter (Snuka put Taker over into the big league by jobbing to a squash).

See Angle vs. Benoit 2003 (?) royal rumble. See a lot of Angle matches as he gets a bunch of clean heel wins for some reason.
