Hey RD, Merry Christmas and all that
I am wondering, is it too early to suggest next years Christmas induction? I would love to see you induct the ill-fated 1986 stink-bomb, "Santa Claus: The Movie" starring Dudley Moore and John Lithgow. From what I read that film cost over $40 Million to produce and only made back I think $10M. To this day it is one of the biggest box office bombs every made
have a great one

It wasn't as bad as EARNEST SAVES CHRISTMAS. I was able to sit through SANTA CLAUSE: THE MOVIE a couple times. I was bearly able to sit throgh EARNEST.

Ernest was awfully 80s cliched. Take one look at Noelle Parker (How ironic is THAT?) and you'll get my point. That being said, I totaly mark out for Ernest.

I loved both movies as a kid, and I still love Ernest. I havnt watched Santa Claus the movie in a while so it may be crap now.
Interesting fact. In Ernes Saves Christmas Santa has come to Ernest's town (LA I think, or somewhere in Florida) to make some guy the new Santa. The guy he wants is filming a horror movie called..... Santa's Slay.

I too will always mark for Earnest. But only when he's going to camp or saving Christmas.

Speaking of Noelle Parker, her character was named "Harmony Star" she was 19 when the movie was made and the characte was supposed to be around 10 or so (not a teen) and if I remember correctly, she said one phrase over and over. She later went on to play Amy Fisher in one of the TV Movies (just like Drew Barrymore). It comes full circle.

I remeber that movie. I was 7 when Santa Clause the movie came out, and 7 is the age where you can plop a kid in front of the TV, and they will watch anything that is geared toward them. However, I remeber watching this and thinking, "Wow, this is horrible!"

Santa Clus: The Movie was THE BIGGEST BOX OFFICE BOMB OF THE 1980S BAR NONE! IT proved once and for all that Alexander Salkind could only do one thing very good: Make Superman movies, and speaking of Superman, induct Superman 4: The Quest for Peace and "Batman and Robin" (1997) as well in time for the release of "Superman Returns"

I thought Dick Tracy was the biggest bomb of the 1980s?

Nope, Dick Tracy did make it's money back. I know this since I was a HUGE Dick Tracy fan back in the day. Heck, when Paul Bearer got covered in Concrete, I said he was getting The "Lips Manalis Treatment". But it was a definate box office disappointment

Also, Salkind proved he couldn't make Superman movies when he made the 1983 picture "Supergirl" which lost around $20M. Although to this very day I still mark out for Helen Slater.
