I'm still not clear as to why they pulled that stunt with Lex Luger during Bash at the Beach 96. I'm talking about him getting taken out halfway through the match. Is it true that they still weren't totally set with Hogan doing the heel turn, and they needed Luger to be the third man just in case? Or would it just not have been appropriate to have a third man during the ending, instead of having the NWO triple team Savage and Sting? A couple other questions; Bastion Booger got taken out of the 94 Royal Rumble because of a stomach ache? Skull (or 8-ball) was taken out of the 98 Royal Rumble....why? Samu was replaced with Sione at the end of 94 because.....? Any other mysterious disappearances that need to be cleared up?

Samu left the WWF (rumored health problems) sometime in 1994 (after SummerSlam and before Survivor Series).

I believe it was to give the impression that Luger would be the third man who joined the nWo, while also evening it out to give the babyfaces- who were at a numerical ADVANTAGE at the start of the match- more of a challenge. With the goodies 3-on-2, it actually offers more sympathy to Hall and Nash. And yeah, having Savage and Sting get wasted by three men at the end looks like a beatdown. 3-on-3 just looks like the babyfaces looking wussy.
As for Samu/Sione, I'd heard that Samu was just sick of the touring and stuff, and asked to be released.

It was done to give the impression that Hogan would take Luger's place; it looked like he was going to help WCW, but, instead, turned on them.

Was Bastion booger taken out to create the believe that it had been Bret hart after Owen turned on him earlier in the evening?

Yeah in the 94 Rumble match I remember Vince saying it was unfortunate that Bret could not make it into the match, and then he shows up later and then we find out the Booger never made it.

Skull or 8 Ball, whichever it was, was taken out of the 98 Rumble becuase he was jumped in the locker room earlier by Los Boriquas while they were hunting down Steve Austin.
they walked in and he was sitting down with his back to them and they saw the bald head and thought it was Austin so they jumped him.

Yes, I remember that happening earlier on the show, but I didn't understand if that was the exact reason for Skull/8Ball not being there, or if they filmed the scene BECAUSE one of them couldn't do the rumble.
