I'm on YouTube looking at production logos that appear after sitcoms and such and everyone is calling them "scary". What the hell is so scary about them? Are they screaming bloody murder when the logo pops up?
Examples:
HOW IN THE FUNK AND WAGNALLS ARE THESE SCARY?!

yeah, I don't get it either. When I heard that poeple were actually afraid of these, I almost lost it.
I mean, it's one thing to get scared of something on TV. It's another thing to get scared of something completely non-threatening completely. To get scared of something non-threatening on TV...oh boy.

One thing I can think of is if you're young and it comes on TV when you're not expecting it. Other than that, yeah I really don't see how they are scary, but it could be the unexpected factor, like Judge Doom's final scene in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

What I don't get is why disable embedding on videos

I wouldn't really say these are "scary" in any sense. Though, I do kinda think of them in the same frame of mind as I would the faceless voice of a telephone operator recording. If that makes sense at all.

It's supposed to be a joke, nobody's really afraid of them as adults.
when we were kids, dull, serious stuff like that contrasted the color and vibrancy of the shows they were part of, and was kind of a shock. Like when you were watching cartoons and an urgent news bulletin would pop up.

I don't think it was ever so much scary as "odd or slightly unsettling". I could see a child being somewhat freaked by that loud, faceless laugh, for instance.

It's a nostalgia thing, but when you're 6 or 7 years old, they do leave a slight imprint.
Also, behold the horror that is Russia's VID-TV...

People can't help what gives them the creeps. When I was a kid this logo used to send shivers down my spine, probably because I owned the Evil Dead on VHS.

How the hell can those two things be classified as scary?

Starry Night Productions used to scare me as a kid. I'd be listening to the great Night Court theme then a evil cackling comes on. Others though I like, like Viacom and would imitate the way it was said. Sit Ubu Sit, good dog. Woof.

As a kid, you'd be crapping your pants if you saw a CG silver Spider-Man lunging towards the screen or hearing a man laugh evilly after Night Court.

When you're a kid, your mind isn't processing thoroughly as it would be when you're older. That's why stuff like this would seem scary or creepy.

While I was never scared of logo's, this one always made me laugh.
Also, upon viewing it again. Is that kid dead?
