I was watching my old tape of Tuesday in Texas (Mostly for the Jake The Snake/Macho Man match) and was plesantly surprised by the opening match.
IC Champion Bret Hart Vs. Wrestlecrap's own Skinner.
Now, I know it seems easy to say "Well, Bret carried him!" but that wasn't the case. Skinner was on top of his game and the match was highly entertaining. A lot more than I remembered.
Also, the commentary from Heenan/Monsoon was, as expected, great.
Later on the same tape, The Brittish Bulldog and The Warlord pulled off a pretty decent "big man" match.
Does anyone else have favorite PPV matches that others don't really talk about?
Wait a second....was Tuesday in Texas a PPV? Oh crap. I think I just shot my thread in the foot...
It was wasn't it?
Oh well...time to make the post count go up one...

I'll go a little under the radar and say Chris Masters versus Shawn Michaels.
I think it was Unforgiven of last year.
This match turned Masters, in my opinion, from useless midcard fodder to potential main-eventer (or at least upper midcarder) in a few years, and is when I really started to enjoy seeing him around.
Also, I hardly ever hear anyone talk about Foley/Orton from a while back or Shane/Angle at King of the Ring 2001, but damn it, those matches were entertaining.

Also, I'd like to throw in the Texas Bullrope Match between Eddie Guerrero and John Bradshaw Layfield at, well, I can't even remember what Pay-Per-View it was, since I just watched the match online.
So f***in' bloody, and good, in an ugly brawl kind of way.

Not to be a smartass, but was it for the IC title? I remember Orton giving RVD a really sick looking hangman DDT off the second rope, which RVD sold like he would never move again.

Jeff Jarrett vs. HBK from like IYH 2 or something was easily one of HBK's best matches ever, yet get's no praise.
Austin vs. Bret SS 96 and Austin vs. Undertaker A Cold Day In Hell are also underrated too.

Brock Lesner versus The Undertaker in Hell in a Cell was pretty good, too.

It was during the phase where JBL would weasel his way out of any match for a year straight to keep the belt. People HATED him, it was great.

I have a couple of favorites from WCW.
First(in order of preference) is Ultimo Dragon V. Psychosis from the 1997 Great American Bash.
Second is Booker T V. Eddie Guerrero from Uncensored 1998.
And finally, Public Enemy V. The Nasty Boys in the double dog collar match from Bash at the Beach 1996.
I don't have any particular reason for liking these matches, but they were great matches(with the double dog collar match being surprisingly good) and are worth hunting down the PPV's for.

Another match I hear almost no talk about is Jericho/HBK at WM20. Or was it 19?
Really great match with a good story, with them trading old moves that they saw on one another's tapes. I still think Jericho should have won.

One that springs to mind is the fourway elimination match at wrestlemania 2000, rock vs hhh vs show vs foley. I think everyone just shits on it because HHH wins, and big show was in it, and there was a McMahon in every corner.
I'm a huge mark for the rock, and I thought it was an excellent match, with some great storytelling. And once the big show is eliminated, you have HHH vs Rock vs Foley. How can that be a bad thing? Great swerve at the end.

And finally, Public Enemy V. The Nasty Boys in the double dog collar match from Bash at the Beach 1996. I remember that match! They used everything from surfboards to inflated sharks. Dusty Rhodes just about had plundergasm.

A lot of these mentioned aren't matches I would call "underrated".. They just seem like really good matches.

Summerslam 2002, IMO, was the greatest PPV of all time. It included 3 criminally underated matches:
1. The first encounter between Rey Mysterio and Kurt Angle. Very fast action, their different styles meshed well. 2. The, to the best of my knowledge, only match between RVD and Chris Benoit. Great technical wrestling. This match proved that RVD is NOT just a spot monkey, as some people criticize him for. 3. The Undertaker vs. Test. Good big man match. Test really showed a lot of potential in this one.
