So, I'm a huge Kofi Kingston fan. I was super excited when he started to get a main event level push and disappointed when it ended suddenly. But I've thought about it for a while, and is it really the WWE's fault?
Its not like they didn't try. They tried like hell, even letting Kofi pin Orton at Survivor Series. The feud continued after that, and they made Kofi look really strong, even giving him a big moment at MSG.
But if you remember, there were a couple of RAWs where Orton was being cheered more than Kofi. Hell, I remember a match where Kofi was getting boo's during his offense.
I don't think the WWE intentionally killed Kofis push. Orton was just more popular. They tried really damn hard but...people liked Randy Orton better. Plain and simple. If anything the only fault the WWE had was underestimating Ortons popularity for so long (a mistake they're fixing now.)
If they had done the same long term feud with Jericho or Punk, I'm sure things would be very different now.

IMO kofi could have moved on to another feud with another main eventer or upper midcarder.

Does it really matter? WWE needs solid midcarders (as opposed to charisma black holes like D-Mac) as much as it needs main eventers.

Kofi was over in the midcard, WWE tested the waters for pushing him into a Jeff Hardy-like role as a plucky underdog in the main event scene, Kofi got decent but not great reactions in that role, WWE moved him back to where he was before. They tried, and maybe in a year or two, Kofi'll be ready for a similar push again. But for now, he's where he belongs on the roster, IMO.

IMO kofi could have moved on to another feud with another main eventer or upper midcarder. But who? This is at the time where Sheamus got such a sudden push due to the lack of main event heels.

Honestly, I'd say it's WWE's fault if only because they seemed to do absolutely nothing with the momentum Kofi had going. Trying to get over as a main-event level face against Orton would be impossible enough to begin with (though Kofi nearly managed it), but other than at the Survivor Series he was never actually allowed to look terribly credible against Orton and the entire feud seemed to serve no purpose but to help set up the awful Legacy one.

Well losing three straight times cleanly to Orton certainly didn't improve his standings

Wasnt it because he botched the punt in a match with Orton? He kept getting up while Randy was lining him up.

I havent abandoned hope on Kofi being a Main Eventer one day just yet..
I have to admit i was dissapointed when it seemed they were Depushing him..
I think moving him to Smackdown was a good idea, Would have just gotten lost in the Card had he stayed on Raw...

Why on Earth people like Randy Orton is beyond me. He has the charisma of a blank piece of paper and while solid in the ring isn't good enough to warrant no personality.

He's pretty and has nice music. It's the same logic behind the Twilight movies, honestly.

Orton has a lot of charisma. He has presence; if he didn't, he simply wouldn't be able to get reactions from the crowd that he does.
I think Kofi should've been pushed a bit longer but it was a good test run and Smackdown's the right place for him right now.

What de-push? He's the Intercontinental champion.
I would have liked for Kofi to have broken through in the main event, but just because WWE didn't pull the trigger then doesn't mean that it's over and he's now destined for Shelton Benjamin/MVP-levels of wheel-spinning.
I have complete faith that Kofi will be fine, given enough time to build. Granted, their policy, as of late, doesn't really involve building anyone. Instead, it seems as though they throw world titles on people and then use the title to get them over (which is the complete opposite of how it should be, in my opinion), so really, they could throw Kofi into a feud with Swagger right this moment and I'd totally buy it because he's actually been built up en route to the championship.

Or maybe it was the fans telling the WWE how important he is to them. His ablity made him important. WWE tried to tell us Drew is important, We all know how that turned out so far.
