-No, adding blood does nothing to heighten the intensity of a match. It often overshadows the match itself and becomes a needless pseudo-gore show. Leave the blading to yard tards and TNA. I agree with this, but I would not stop a match if someone gets busted open legitimately. Blading is unnecessary 99% of the time and that 1% is for very heated grudge matches where the animosity is palpable dramatically, meaning once in a blue moon since so much is hot-shotted nowadays. Stoping a match for blood is ridiculous. However, I can see it being necessary if its an eye injury or something very dangerous.

But I think theyre doing it wrong. They should mimic MMA and boxing, if the blood gets too bad, then patch it up. If not, leave them to fight.

Nope, no and nyet.
We might appeal to other parts of the audience, but I doubt any of us, myself included would appeal to the wide range that WWE does.

the only things i'd change would be: fire miz fire swagger fire mccool more blood at ppvs depush maryse rehire mickie and katie lea spread main eventers out evenly bring back the hardcore title, complete with 24/7 rule rehire paul heyman hire half the SHIMMER roster steal almost evryone from tna bring back jbl fire matt striker rename the ppvs to what they were in 2007 hell, just end pg altogether make jericho wear pants again use good songs by good groups for ppv themes do better promo videos at ppvs -Miz and Swagger have been great in recent times. Swagger is starting to slowly get his swagger back (and it tastes like freedom) -McCool is nowhere near the worst Diva on the roster. She is a better wrestler than Maryse, Eve, Kelly Kelly and Tiffany. -No, adding blood does nothing to heighten the intensity of a match. It often overshadows the match itself and becomes a needless pseudo-gore show. Leave the blading to yard tards and TNA. -Whether she is a good wrestler or not, Maryse has her character down and shows motivation and hard work. So no. -Katie Lea, yes. Mickie, maybe. Mickie got sloppier and sloppier with her ring work as time went on, and judging by all the rumours that flew out, upset a lot of people backstage. -I like the set up they have. Smackdown has created many main eventers. Look for Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler and Kofi Kingston to break into the main event scene this year or next. -No, the Hardcore title was a pointless joke, as is weapon based wrestling nowadays. -In what capacity? As a booker? Absolutely, Heyman is a genius. Just dont put him in charge of finances. -I dont know enough about Shimmer, but I know they have a lot of female talent. How many are "Diva" material though? -Not gonna happen. TNA guys are under contract. Who exactly would you take? -JBL on commentary would be great. Striker is the best commentator in the WWE right now. Dont fire him. -Naming a PPV Jimmy Dean's Chocolate Chip Pancake Wrapped Wrestlemania Rematches on a Stick wont make the PPV any better or worse. -Being PG stops the WWE from doing stuff like Katie Vick, JRs colon surgery, and Al Wilson. Im fine with it. Ive enjoyed PG WWE a lot more recently. -Id just like to see Y2J come back personally. -Any examples of good groups? -The WWE have put out some great video promos recently. HBK/Taker Running up That Hill? -i realize i'm beating a dead horse every time i say this, but i have always found miz and swagger to be boring on the mic and completely talentless in the ring. ALWAYS. -mccool has also never failed to unimpress me. her moveset? kick, kick, and faithbreaker, which is THE worst finisher on planet earth. not to mention i've had oatmeal with more personality, and both mccool's matches and oatmeal give me horrific heartburn. -i'm not saying we need blood in every ppv match. leave it to the very high profile matches, and it won't be so much like overkill. part of the reason people have turned off a bit towards blood in matches is, of course, because hogan and flair have to do it EVERY FREAKING MATCH. in that regard, i agree with you. -maryse is fine, if your key qualities in a women's wrestler are "blonde, model-thin, crap on the mic, and crap with her moves." i don't mind blondes, mind you (hello beth, trish, and natalya), but the rest i do. -katie lea should never have been fired in the first place, and i think there is far, far more to the mickie saga that has yet to be uncovered, from all sides of the story. -i agree with you on kofi and dolph, but cody is, IMHO, just another "jannetty/bart." he'll be used for a while as a JTTS, then get furture endeavored. as for the rest, the only bona fide MEs on SD right now are rey (who may be out for surgery), punk (who has not fit in the ME role at all, and i haven't been the only one to say that), big show (really?), swagger (*CHOKECOUGHGASP!!!!!*), and undertaker (who my mother and i both mark out for, but he's getting up there in years, and sadly, it shows). in the draft, they should've never let both jericho and edge go, and they should've sent over either orton or sheamus, although sheamus isn't convincing me much as a MEer, either. -at least if the hardcore title was around, it'd give lower-ranking guys and gals something to do other than hang around the guest host or job to hornswoggle. -heyman as booker wuld be excellent. -i don't want "diva" material, i want wrestlers. and while some women are able to go from diva to wrestler (see: trish and melina), many others don't. we need more wrestling women, like trish, mickie, molly, victoria, and lita, not more dolls like mccool and maryse. as for who i'd take from shimmer, if they are extremely capable wrestlers (mschif, sara del rey, awesome kong, and cheerleader melissa, among others), i say sign them and use them right. before certain people start whining about my obssession over the divas division, i grew up on the golden age of women's wrestling in wwe, from 2002 til trish and lita retired in 2006. which reminds me. let's stop looking for the next trish, or the next lita, because you won't find one. instead, let's just try to find the next big thing and build from there. - if i had to steal a few superstars form tna, i'd choose abyss, matt morgan, MCMG, beer money, and samoa joe. maybe even bring back rvd, jeff hardy, tara, and angle for old times' sake. just keep that damned aj lackoftalentandstyles off my tv. -have you seen how many factual errors striker makes on commentary, esp. at ppvs??? he seriously rivals mike adamle for worst announcer ever. i may not have liked jbl, but at least he got his facts straight, which is something striker really does not appear interested in doing. -i'm a traditionalist with names, i guess. - yes i realize that pg has prevented another mass onslaught of gooker winners, but it has also given us a massive overdose of hornswoggle, "santina" marella, and the neutering of DX and john cena. yes, i realize the kids are the primary aim right now, but what about the rest of us? ? other hand, pg has prevented another disastrous "live sex celebration." it's pretty clear that i am a devout lita mark, but even i thought that segment was a dud. -i'd like to see y2j back too, but seriously.... -i'm not saying the wwe has to use high-profile bands for everything, but this emo crap (rev theory, sick puppies, art of dying, skillet) just burns my nerves to no end. -i realize that no one will ever top the epic rock/austin video for wm17, but i have not seen a good promo vid since vengeance 2007 for batista/edge. i'd like that kind of stuff back, thankyouverymuch. ok i'm done ranting.

No, I don't think "we" could, as there's far more that goes into it than simply booking a show. However, I think that, were someone to step up and have the same drive and ambition Vince once did, and the slightly more hands-off approach to the actual matches that he once had, it would do wonders. Vince has always been hands on in that he make the decisions, he tells the performers where he wants them to get to in terms of a finish. However, he's hands-off in that getting there is up to them, responding to the crowd is up to them. He may givee them a "gimmick", but it used to be that he'd then say "now make it yours". Now, the focus has changed so much, and become so much more scripted down to the smallest detail, that "go make me some money" approach is hampered. Yes, a guy like Cena still rakes in the cash because he has the Hoganesque role and can connect with the kiddies, but let me point this out. Both Hogan and Vince said that the whole ear cupping bit was Hogan's idea, done on the fly. It may be corny as hell, but it came from paying attention to not just that the crowd reacted, but specifically what they reacted to. You can't get this when you micromanage to the point that every mannerism is written into the script because you're too damn busy thinking about the script. Further, Vince used to realize that, to keep his cash cow strong, the people he would eventually vanquish needed to be strong too. Therefore, they'd get storylines, chase the IC title or tag belts, have promo time and we'd here the announce teams put them over like rover every single week. No, Tito Santana wasn't going to be Hulk Hogan, everyone knew that, but Vince was a smart enough businessman to realize he could make some cash with Tito too. So he'd put the man over on commentary, give him a storyline and build that went for years. By the time Tito stepped in with Hogan, the foregone conclusion wasn't as absolute in the minds of the marks, because Vince had told them that Tito was worthy of being there and that he was special. Sure, Hogan won, but in the end, you had another "almost made it" guy who could sell some action figures and make people pay to see a show where Hogan wasn't appearing because they had somebody that the fans knew and cared about. THAT is what's lost, that is what I've begged for, and that's why people will (rightly) call me a cynic. Vince knows what's worked because he's done it before, and made oodles of cash from it. The performers change, the little tidbits change, but the substance of it never, ever has. I just wish he'd remember that. I pretty much agree with the whole post. I don't think "we" could do it, but someone else can do it better. I really think he is micromanaging and increased scripting of the shows(most obviously Raw) is hurting his shows and not giving wresters a chance to get themselves over and the fans getting a more real character they can relate to. Vince WAS great at what he does, but I think he has became too much of a control freak lately. With building up wrestlers to go against the top guy, I agree giving mid-carders more credibility and trying to get them over would help. I am starting to see more of that lately, and I think eventually we will see more of the mid-carders move up. Atleast they are getting air time on Raw and some characters. The one thing I would change that didn't discuss is his booking of Cena. I am also not talking about turning him heel or jobbing him. You talked about how people would actually want to see Hogan wrestle Tito. The reason is simple, Hogan wasn't overexposed. He wrestled on free tv several times a year and just seeing him was a big deal. Austin was booked more on tv than Hogan, but didn't really wrestle that much, I would say at most would one to two free tv matches a month and that was pushing it. Another thing was Austin wasn't on every Raw, or would just wait until the very end for him to show up and do something crazy like the Beer Truck where he sprayed McMahon. This is something Cena needs, to have more spontanious appearances and surprises. Also Cena doesn't truely have an arch nemisis. Sure he has people he has a past with like Edge and Orton, but no one that was constantly there trying to get one over on him. With Hogan you had Heenan and eventually Dibiase and Andre were brought into the mix. Austin had McMahon. A superhero is only as great as his greatest villian.

Well, if I ran it, Cena would never be a main eventer in the first place but that's besides the point. Since he's one of the top ones now, I couldn't just "take him out" of the main event and release him. I'd still have him at the top, but wouldn't be shoving him down everyone's throat and making him out to be invincible in his feuds. For instance, I would book Sheamus vs Cena. Cena jobs cleanly to Sheamus, and a storyline gets built about how for once, Cena cannot overcome the odds. He wouldn't just lose to him once, he wouldn't just lose to him twice, but he would lose to him THREE times before getting the blow off match at some Wrestlemania when he does, infact overcome the odds and win. See how this makes sense? Cena went up against Sheamus before (in storyline), and lost. So the odds really ARE stacked against him. A few losses wouldn't hurt Cena's fanbase, so let's do a sympathy story where he gets sad about breaking promises to the fans about beating Sheamus. He realizes he's not infact, Superman and is infact, only a human. And that he's sorry if anybody ever looked up to him in any other way. These losses aren't three in a row either, he would beat him once in a title match and move on. Then say pin him clean in a fatal four way, then again at another PPV.
I would build MVP and Sheamus up and push them to the moon. I would stick the Divas Title on Natalya while the Hart Dynasty have the tag titles. I would put Evan Bourne on Smackdown and have him be what Rey Mysterio was to the brand in 2002-2005. Jack Swagger would be what JBL was to Smackdown and MVP would be what John Cena was. The guy who couldn't accomplish anything due to being behind bars, but he doesn't need to, because he can shut him up. So it's a battle of the rich and the poor really.

If I ran it I'd embezzle money and fly to a tropical island. I think this is probably the most sensible, intelligent idea posted so far. Anyway, were I running WWE, I'd have to look at priorities: Do I want to keep the company afloat amidst declining sales and an economic downturn by pushing safe, established draws and focusing on mainstream marketing tie-ins, or do I want to splurge and have 6-12 months of a big budget version of HUSTLE so that we can go out bankrupt in a blaze of glory? Eh, I'd probably be bored running a company after a year anyway.

I agree with this. Infact, I was playing EWR recently and booking wrestling isn't as easy as people think it would be. I now have an excuse to post this: I still can't believe I did that. Jesus! What the Hell did you send out after that match? I'm assuming "the crowd was too pumped from the last match" was in the Road Agent notes, regardless of whatever followed that ladder match! It was the Main Event! I built it up so well that I did what WWE did with HBK/Taker and assumed it would be good enough to close the show, but I didn't think it'd be THAT good. It even made Christian the top face of the company!

Just thought Id take the key points from this. -McCool has come a long way in the WWE. Although in comparison to how she started, she still isnt great, but I can tolerate her at least on TV. I dont think she is essential at all, and if she wasnt boning the Undertaker, she wouldnt be there. -Im like you, I love womens wrestling, I was a massive Lita/Trish mark. There are hot women all over TV, hot women who can fight/wrestle? Not so much. Personally, Id love to see them sign Scott D'Amore to run the womens side of things. And for them to sign some decent women wrestlers. -Everyone except Abyss and Jeff, Id take from that list. Abyss hasnt been good since he got neutered in his Sting feud. This whole Hulkamaniac gimmick is a joke. Jeff is a liability, and tbh I think he is hugely overrated. Samoa Joe is just awesome. -You can make these characters more entertaining without going back to TV 14. Its a case of the writers not knowing how to write within PG rules. Case in point, JBL Is Poopy. -I dont think you know what "emo crap" is if youre calling Rev Theory and Sick Puppies emo bands. Im a huge fan of this kind of music, and the term youre looking for is "Douchebag Rock" pioneered by Nickelback.

Vader has the answer to your question.
Would we have good ideas? Some of us would.
Would these ideas make money? Some of us would.
Would we end up booking who we like instead of who the audience likes? I'm man enough to say I would!

A lot of people in this thread talk like running the WWE is the easiest thing in the world. Show up, fire a bunch of guys that are making the WWE money right now, push guys that they like; unproven in the big time or not.
I'm man enough to say that I wouldn't want to deal with the headaches that Vince surely has to deal with on a daily basis. You can't please everyone, so you please the fans that will make you the most money. To do otherwise is a huge risk of losing your existing fanbase, and what good would it be if you're having a 5 star match in the main event if a lot of the casual fans aren't interested anymore.

Some of us could. But others would have the shows all taped so they could have Matt Striker record both the play by play and color.
Oh, and it isn't that hard to get a 99 or 100 in EWR. Kurt Angle vs Chris Jericho used to get it all the time.

If I ran it, I'd just do little things that I wanted to see. Heel Christian feuding with Cena, a major Regal push, face Jericho, Santino challenging the heel divas in intergender matches, Dusty replacing Lawler in the Raw booth, etc.
As far as creating a "new era", I wouldn't worry about it.
