I dont know if its because I was first introduced to them in the NWA and it just stuck but I've always considered them The Road Warriors and never got to calling them The Legion of Doom as thier official name like they were in the WWF.
How bout you?

I've always known them as the Road Warriors.
.......they're not the Legion of Doom until they trade Paul Ellering for Solomon Grundy.

Road Warriors.
The Legion of Doom was who fought the Superfriends. ( Yeah I know that's where Hawk and Animal got that from, but when I'd hear the name, I was thinking Luthor, Bizarro, et al first.)

Honestly I called them both of the above, at different times and in different places.

if i recall right, when they first appeared they and Ellering together were called the Legion of Doom but the Hawk/Animal team itself was called the Road Warriors. which is what i always thought of them as.
When they arrived in the WWF i always thought they didn;t want to give up the rights to the Road Warriors so they went with the LoD instead. though i could (and probably am) way off on that part.

I always think of them as the Legion of Doom.
Probably because I first saw them in the WWF.

Well, since I first knew them as Road Warrior Hawk and Road Warrior Animal, it just seems more practical in my opinion to collectively refer to them as The Road Warriors. But I still call them LoD depending on if I want to.

If the story I heard was true, the reason for the name change was that Vince didn't want any confusion with the Ultimate Warrior. They're still the Road Warriors to me, dammit!

You're close here. Hawk and Animal were the Road Warriors. They were part of a larger stable, including King Kong Bundy & Jake Roberts (possibly others at times, can't quite remember), managed by Paul Ellering, known as the Legion of Doom. Therefore, they're the Road Warriors.

Being a lifelong WWF mark, I've always known them as the Legion of Doom. It's actually weird for me whenever I hear the Road Warriors name used, like in Legends of WrestleMania.
