Eastern Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling were two different companies. Eastern Championship Wrestling went out of business (Gordon's words in that famous promo) and they started up a new company. Baloney. They are the same company with different owners and nothing more. When ECW seceded from the NWA (1994) it was re-christened Extreme rather than Eastern to make that secession more pronounced. Gordon still owned ECW when they became Extreme. He didnt sell off to Paul until 1995. They were still running in the same building with the same roster during the transition and Heyman was head booker before and after he bought out Gordon. The only difference is ownership. It was the same company under different ownership.

Sheamus, Jack Swagger, CM Punk, The Hart Dynasty, Kofi Kingston All were built up on ECW. Three are credible main eventers who were/are World Champions, and the other three were/are tag team champions (and Kofi was Intercontinental). Plus it launched The Miz and John Morrison into superstars and future main eventers. Made Mark Henry credible again, and even gave Matt Hardy a shot in the arm. ECW WAS A REAL BIG FAILURE CAUSE THERE WERENT ENOUGH CHAIR SHOTS That's basically what it comes down to right there at the end. People are so jaded and upset over how the company was run that they go out of their way to treat it like it was something different. It was the exact same thing, a television program. But people treat it like an abusive stepfather. Get over it, it's a wrestling show.

Rey Mysterio Junior is the only person that comes to mind.

One ECW was a company. The other ECW was a show. Listing the guys who were on WWE's ECW as "ECW alumni" is like listing Hulk Hogan as an alumni of WWF Saturday Night Main Event.

Isn't getting upset over an asinine point that has been beaten to death and has nothing to do with the original post (The the current WWE mockery of the ECW show that was the stomping ground for many of the upper card players on the big shows) just a tad silly?

Do Alliance members count? Because I'd argue that Stephanie McMahon is doing pretty good for herself.
