...I can't buy the DVDs. Are podcasts enough? And what matches should I look out for on YouTube?

The Podcasts will help you keep up, but it's really hard to get full on into the promotion without the DVDs. Especially jumping into the full BDK vs. Chikara thing.

Warn me if I shouldn't be saying this, but can I watch the events online? Honestly, I wouldn't even know where to direct you. To say nothing of the strict punishments Chikara levys on bootleggers, such as being forced to watch December 2 Dismember, Clockwork Orange style.

Warn me if I shouldn't be saying this, but can I watch the events online? You are in luck, sir! Go to www.hybrident.tv/PPSCatalog/pps.htm and you can check out past CHIKARA events for a pretty cheap fee for 14 days.

As for 'where to start', I'd suggest any King of Trios set. Check out 2008 for example: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_of_Trios#2008 I still find it staggering that they can book such a diverse range of teams into one tournament and make it awesome. Not a dud in the bunch. I've yet to hear of anyone saying a particular Chikara DVD was bad, but this is a great place to start.
