I just watched this movie and thought it was really good. I don't know much about English football history, but man this seemed like a really interesting time. Maybe some of the British crappers can have some input on this movie. Just wanted to share that this movie was really, really good.

Well, the film mostly puts out what happened - Brian Clough just had it in for Leeds United, and some of their players, because of what had happened both with Don Revie (the Leeds United manager) and the perception that they were a rough, dirty side.
I only saw it myself a couple of weeks ago, however I'd read a lot about it prior to that. It is a great film, best movie I've watched this year.

Brian Clough was a great Manager.
He was also a bigoted piece of scum. His comments on the death of 96 Liverpool fans made me sick. He later admitted he was wrong about it but it was too little too late. F***ing c***.

Awesome, awesome film.
Michael Sheen has become one of my favourite actors of late. TDU and Frost/Nixon are both tremendous.

To me, he was the greatest manager of them all - he did the impossible with TWO basket case clubs that had never achieved - I would rather poke out my eyes than visit Snide Park, but I respect his work there, and as for what he did for Forest... genius. And okay, he failed at Leeds, but he should never have taken the job managing that gang of animals.

You may or may not be interested to know that Brian's son Nigel is currently in charge of Derby County. Recently Derby played at Leeds and he stopped the coach early to make the players walk the last few yards to the ground. soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=812669&sec=england&cc=5739Anyway I agree that it's a great movie. I believe a crapper worked on this movie too.

If he hadn't have been who he was, with a family and support system, he'd have been kipping on the street with a bottle of Vladivar. Even the Tricky Tree, the Forest fanzine, had a spoof pic of him drinking under a bench, in a parody named "Forest Grump".

A fantastic film, but the book is far darker.
Clough really had it in for Leeds, who didn't play the game the way he saw fit, so he got his revenge by getting Derby promoted and then champions in back to back seasons. But that came at the cost of his relationship with the board. Clough was pretty much the 70s version of what Mourinho is now. What he did with Nottingham Forest, winning more European Cups (two) than English league titles (one), was remarkable, probably more then than it would be now, given how easy it is to be in Europe nowadays.

I was an extra in it. I appear for half a second near the dugout during one of the matches

What an awesome cast! If Michael Sheen could be in every movie made from here on out, life would be magical.

(Semi) Interesting story: when I worked in book publishing, I had an advance proof of this book, as we'd published The Red Ridings books, by David Peace - wish I still had it, sure it could have sold for a bit.
