So my mom is about to kick me out on the 31st if I don't have another source of income (I already work at Target) and bring in at least $300-400 a week. I'm trying to work 40 hours a week now and with my next paycheck coming next week I will have about $1200 saved up. I have nowhere to go seeing as how I don't really want to live with family or friends because I don't like living on top of people like that.
How did you guys do it for your first time leaving the nest? Also if it helps I'm 21 years old.

a friend was also moving out, we got a place together. i was also 21 actually, and it was a f-n blast. partying, picking up girls, do whatever, whenever.
your mom wants $300-400 a week from you? for that you might as well live on your own. kinda funny, my mom was the same, said i needed to bring in more money or else i was getting kicked out. so i started working more hours. after a couple weeks she asked me for money and i said "nope, im movin' out". then she acted all surprised lol. i was kind of a dick, said i wouldnt pay her until SHE got job. ahh well, i ended up getting along much better with my whole family after i moved out.
seriously being on your own will change your whole perspective. if it comes down to it stay with a friend or famliy a couple of weeks until you find a place. give them a few bucks, dont be shy.

I have worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania twice, and I never raked in $400 a week. She's just looking for you to get out; I say git.

Yeeeeeah, $300-400/week, you could probably live pretty well on your own for less than that. (In Connecticut, at least... dunno what the market's like in St. Louis, presumably cheaper.)

300-400 a week is a pretty freaking good apartment here.

For my rental properties I charge 700.00 a month but you have to take things into consideration.
Cable/Internet Food Electricity/Gas Security Deposit (usually the same amount as your rent)
Look for a bargin, some places that really need to rent out their apartments might give you the first month free. Or some have free cable. Those things help.
Also go look at some rummage sales or thrift stores for some furniture. Nothing special but stuff to have for now, while you save up and get something different. If your mom isn't gonna let you take your bed from home maybe look into a futon or something.
Dishes and glasses and stuff you can get cheap at a rummage sale or something too.
Its great to be able to party and everything but I always tried to do it at someone elses house because you don't want your neighbors complaining about you.
Best tenants ever are single males. No drama, they can usually fix little things on their own and are usually quiet.
If you have any other specific questions post them. I went through all of it when my parents had to move outta state while I was in the middle of a semester of college and I just started everything myself like you are.

Just keep in mind that when you move out you have to pay more than your rent; you also have to pay your electricity, water, trash, and phone bills, as well as pay for food and any entertainment, like cable or Internet. I know that sounds very "well, duh", but when I first moved out I didn't really think about what any of those things cost.

I'd love to move back out. I mean I get along with my folks just fine and we're very close. But it's natural to want a place of your own, especially when you're 27 and have had one before.
But, as long as I'm unemployed, I don't see it happening. The job market around here, which was never good, is outright horrible now.

First you get the money, then you get the power, then you get the women.
That being aside, you should probably save up as much money as possible, because you don't want to go back. You never want to move back. Then, if you have any other ambitions, like college or trade school, get those out of the way as well.

Heh, $400 a week is pretty standard for an apartment where I live. California ftw.

Best advice I can give you is to take a trip to Baltimore. Everything else will fall into place. It did for me over this last month anyways.
