I am not a big fan of theirs but I went to Uproar Fest today and all I can say is that they sure know how to kick off a show.
The instrumental intro to Nightmare started playing and a spotlight hit somebody up in the rafters above the stage. He jumped off with a noose around his neck, twitched a bit, then dangled there as the band came out and played the song before being taken down and wheeled off stage in a body bag after the song was over. Obviously it was fake (he was wearing a harnass and other safety stuff) but it still got the crowd's attention.....

I never gave them a chance because of all the crap about them that I've heard from my friends. I basically said 'ef it and bought "City of Evil" on a whim, I was hooked instantly. I give them credit for dealing with the death of their drummer so well, I'm sure the last thing they wanted to do is make a new record or tour without him. I've never actually seen them live and didn't know they did stunts like that. Now I'm kicking myself for not seeing them last month when they came around.

That's awesome, I love that some bands still do theatrical shit like that

Well they REALLY traded up with drummers as Mike Portnoy of Dream Theatre is filling in for them.

I loved Sounding the 7th Trumpet and Waking the Fallen, but their style change in City of Evil just didn't do it for me.

I only really like Waking the Fallen, so I can't really consider myself a fan of theirs...but yeah. They put on one kickass show. I saw them back in '06 and they f***ing murdered. Honestly one of the best shows I've ever seen, it was just outstanding.

I loved Sounding the 7th Trumpet and Waking the Fallen, but their style change in City of Evil just didn't do it for me. See, I'm the same way but I didn't think City of Evil was all that bad, until they started to get more popular and started dressing up like fools. Then their music started to suffer with the self-titled album. Still a shame about their drummer, though. He was arguably the most talented out of the entire group.
