It depends on what you call "our" generation. I'd argue someone like James Hetfield would be pretty high up there for me, as I'm 30 and a HUGE Metallica fan. Sure, Metallica is four guys, but James is the heart and soul of that band.

I personally would define "our" generation as 90's through now, which is why I put Dave Grohl as mine, and another reason why Hetfield would be there considering Metallica's domination of the world in the 90's. I think if Kurt Cobain had not been killed/commited suicide/whatever you believe, he'd be in Dave Grohl's place on my list, because I think he would've kept up his popularity like Grohl has.

Trent Reznor is the musician of MY personal generation.
All others pale in comparison of his work as a whole.

It's Reznor and everyone else is fighting for second place.

The problem I have with the question is that you ask it like their has to be ONLY ONE musician of our generation. Hendrix, Clapton, Lennon, even Morrison are all considered legends of a generation. As for Jack White, he'll probably be remembered in the same way Layne Staley is today (minus the death hopefully.) Where only people who were around duriing that time and listened to the band remembers him. I didn't mean there could be only one...I was asking about 1 particular person. My bad. I mistook what you meant by THE musician.

Yeah I have to second that. I have no clue who that is. Being a 70s/80s kid I would think Jackson would be considered the musician of "our" generation. Generation X I guess. You kids today with your music, tsk!
