I personally believe so. It seems so many musicians/bands come and go over the past several years while Bands/Musicians such as Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, etc have all been around for years and rightfully so. I personally believe that Jack White is the legend of this generation. I don't think anything he touches doesn't turn out amazing in my opinion. I was curious as to what everyone else thought.

I think a lot of people will probably disagree with you, but I am a big fan. So I can't really argue against him, either. Does that make sense?

I'm a fan of the White Stripes but Jack really isn't that good of a guitarist.

I'm a fan of the White Stripes but Jack really isn't that good of a guitarist. I love his guitar playing but I'm not necessarily speaking of guitarist, but of all the material he has come out with. Not only several successful bands but a successful record studio with Third Man Records as well.

No, Jack Black is.

I was just wanting to get people's opinion because I have heard both sides of the debate. But music is something a lot of people are passionate about so maybe no real arguments will break out...

I don't really think so, I think the musician of this generation is Dave Grohl.

Things move too fast nowadays for anyone to grow as legendary as the bands of yore.

His guitar work isn't any better than average, but when it comes to songwriting he's a genius.
It'll take a while before we know how influential he was.

Yes.
As for his guitar playing, yes it's simplistic, but that's really the whole point of his style. If he came out and started shredding for no reason it would sound like garbage(no matter how technically precise it is)
I would say that he is THE songwriter of this generation.
Go see him live, you'll be a convert. You get your money's worth every single time.

He's not even the best musician in the Racontuers. Brendan Benson has him beat on all levels.
