I have a second cousin who used to play for the Australian national basketball team back in the day. Never met him which is a shame. Mum says he's a great guy.

The dude that's my brother's dad was like a second cousin of Ernie Irvan, the dude that drove the NASCAR what had Skittles on it. I guess that's a pseudo-celeb.

Nobody myself, but I knew a guy in college whose uncle was Old Hoss on Bonanza.
I also knew a girl in high school who was the niece a couple of generations removed of Pirates great shortstop Honus Wagner.

Oh, yeah. I guess if ridiculously small-time historical figures count, I'm related to some "famous" Civil War general or something. My grandfather gave me some books that were written about him. There was some story about him sneaking out of some military academy and getting him and his buds onto a gambling boat that was kind of amusing. I didn't read any of the rest, though. Battles, tactics, blah blah blah.

So can everyone here prove these things? Not saying to strangers on the internet, but say for your own curiosity? Or are these family stories? Got a big family tree so can prove my great x7/8 grandfather, and my cousin can be proved easily lol. The great x? who stole a chicken and got sent to australia, i'm not sure, my auntie who looks into the family history told me that one lol

Very distantely to Oliver Cromwell and President Taylor Wasn't that the President who had 14 kids? Seems like this would be a huge family tree. -- No wait, I would be thinking of Tyler.

No. The nearest I have is that my mum's bosses son created the original Grand Theft Auto.

My cousin is John Mellencamp, but I've only met him a few times and didn't really connect with him. Never a fan of his music. But I respect how he has taken care of his immediate family, especially his mom, as well as pump money into the Seymour, IN economy with all the business ventures he'd bankroll. Regardless of his political views (and I'm far from sharing them) he means well and unlike most folks who have the resources, he does something.

My mom's cousin is Bob Kuechenberg, who played for the Miami Dolphins. Robert John Kuechenberg (born October 14, 1947 in Gary, Indiana) is a former National Football League offensive lineman for the Miami Dolphins for fourteen seasons between 1970 and 1983, spending the 1984 season on injured reserve. He was a mainstay in a line that included Hall of Famers Jim Langer, Larry Little, and Dwight Stephenson and played in six Pro Bowls in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was selected as one of the top 15 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame from 2002–2006, and one of the top 17 finalists from 2007–2009, but missed the cut every year. Bob is the brother of former Chicago Bears linebacker Rudy Kuechenberg. This dude needs to be voted into the Hall of Fame, srsly. He was a -beast-. Broke his arm in a game one time, then went into the locker room, got a steel rod inserted, and actually went back out and finished the game.

One of my old housemates was a nephew (I think once or twice removed but whatever) of late wrestler Giant Haystacks (Dungeon of Dooms Loch Ness Monster/Loch Ness for the Americans here).
Myself however, not so much. I come from a family of fisherman. However, one of our uncles is good friends with the Upson family, so we've had a few signed programmes and stuff sent to us courtesy of footballer Matthew Upson.

Ox Baker and the Desert Fox, Erwin Rommel. I'm related to General Patton. My distant relative read your distant relative's book. I was also engaged to a girl whose maternal family name was Booth. Guess which presidential assassin she was directly related to?

William the Conqueror. Nobody within last nine centuries that I'm aware of. We're related! My family is huge on genealogy, and we can trace a direct line back to the Vivian family, the head of which was a cousin to William the Conqueror and got land after he, well, conquered. Richard Trevithick is also my great-great-great-great-great-great uncle. He invented the steam locomotive. Died penniless for it too. And while no one would have heard of him, my Great Grandfather designed the first Kool-Aid package. He drew a little doodle of a pitcher with a smiley face on it. We have the patents but, well, we don't get the money. Whenever I see "OH YEAH" I cry a little inside.
