But if I can be serious for a moment. Flair is doing what he wants to do. Problem is, I don't know if I can really believe that anymore. I kinda get the feeling it's not so much what he wants to do, as he has to do. It's what he knows and he is seriously in the hole money-wise, so whatever will garner him a constant paycheque is what he'll do. I can't shake the impression that he enjoys being on the shows and being with The Boys but doesn't want to be in the ring any more. He'll do it because he wants to remain employed but I don't feel he'd do it by choice. I've said before that one last Sting-Flair match would be something I'd personally like to see. Part of that is that, at least, Flair would genuinely be passionate about it. Back to the original question, I haven't lost respect to Flair over this. I understand he has to do what he has to do to put food on the table and I don't begrudge him that one bit. If it's strictly a money thing, I don't understand why he doesn't go to the mid-atlantic area and do commercials and other stuff. He is a god in this area and could have made lots of cash in addition to working with ROH.

As a human being, I never really saw a reason to respect him.
As a performer, I still have respect for him. I see no reason to be upset with him for not really retiring. Hes a pro wrestler. I dont care if he was a little shady with the WWE either. Its not like they haven't been guilty of anything uncouth.
Plus, our last image of Flair in WWE wasn't walking into the sunset anyway. It was being punted in the head by Randy Orton.

I respect his abilities. But, I lost a lot of respect for him after the whole ROH thing.

I lost respect for Flair a long time ago. First off the guy allegedly broke his word to WWE when he said he wouldn't wrestle in North America again. But honestly as much as I don't like a guy breaking his work if he needs the money and TNA offered it to him he has to do what he has to do. I lost respect for Flair when he did that Extreme Rules match with the Big Show back in 2006 the guy was 57 years old with his family in the front row and he took a horrible beating in front of them. Yeah guys do hardcore matches in front of their kids and wives but at age 57 you have to seriously fear for their health long term. If I was Ric's kid having to watch that match I wouldn't have been able to finish it. I mean if your dad at 57 years old was a bloody mess on National TV doing things that would but a man 25 years younger at risk what would be running through your head. I don't know maybe that's me but I lost a lot of respect for him when I saw that. That match gave me even more respect for the man

Ric Flair is a freakin idiot.
He had a contract with WWE and all he had to do was to appear 1x in 5 months or something like that after WM 24 and he earned the same amount of money that probably a midcarder did and he threw that away to have a speech at ROH I believe.
So yeah, I kinda lost my respect for him. He could have gone to WWE in a second again, but he rather goes somewhere else.

WWE also wanted to limit his outside appearances (autograph signings, etc.)
Flair stated that he was enjoying getting to meet the fans and didn't want to give it up.
Just goes to show, you can do something for the fans and you'll still get criticized for it.

It'd be restored if he finally nails the concept of a pre-nup. Oh yes, unnecessary reference to a stranger's personal life, I'm modern here people.

I respect Flair for being his own man and doing what he feels is best for Ric Flair.
Let's face it, his retirement angle in the WWE was little more than a shtick to add another marquee match-up to Wrestlemania 24. He was never going to hang up the boots and we all knew it then.

I can't understand people who condemn a man for not staying retired because someone else told him to.

I didn't lose respect for him because he broke his word to Vince. Vince has done that to other people a lot of times. I lost respect for him when he dragged Owen's death and used it as a way to hit back at Bret Hart. For someone that was a huge fan of Owen and stopped watching wrestling for months after his death, that was pretty low of him. The ROH thing didn't help either.

Wait...you lost respect for him because he essentially didn't want to remain largely inactive on a WWE pay cheque and instead risked that to become more involved in the industry on a day to day basis? ...no offence but that's strange logic.

I still respect Ric Flair and I always will, you can’t change the past and he’ll always be “the man” to me in many respects.
I do feel sorry for how the last few years have gone for him though and he is doing himself no favours by being in TNA after he had such a great send off from the WWE.
I fear Flair won’t be out of the business until the day he dies unfortunately, I can see him five or ten years from now pretty much bald and going through his routine in small high school gyms for crowds of 100 or less in order for a quick payday. Hopefully I am wrong.

LOL, straight from Rajah regarding the released 911 call the night Flair's wife got arrested: During the call, Jacqueline Beems' daughter says her mother and Ric "were both drunk" and punching each other at their home in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Beems' daughter says Ric was bleeding from his forehead and needed medical assistance. She asked that the 911 operator send police to the home to help put an end to the violent altercation.
Beems was arrested that night and charged with assault.NOTE: You don't have to do a gig job in a fight with your wife. However in this case, it seemed to get him over with the cops, lol. rajah.com/base/node/18673

his personal affairs don't really concern me, honestly, I've always been big on separating the artist from the work as it were.
the RoH thing is messed up though. maybe it's me being a fanboy for the company but it isn't the same as screwing over WWE in my book.
