October 22nd 1991 in Dayton, OH - Flair won by count-out after Bobby Heenan grabbed Hogan's leg to stop him entering the ring. Many think their match in Oakland, CA three days later was their first match, but this trumped it.

WWF wasted that opportunity. I have read somewhere that Hogan and Vince had heat and both knew he was headed for Hollywood and so the match didn't happen as it should have @wm8. WCW for all the wrong or right they did nailed it with Flair/Hogan at BTB94. That card and the way that match was promoted was a cornerstone for what WCW did in the 90's

Sid had also signed with WWF and part of his contract was he would main event WM which he did as a double main event with Hogan. It was never a done deal or even in the pipeline that Hogan VS Flair would main event WM 8 as much as some of the NWA/WCW and WWF fans would have wanted.

Anyone think Flair/Hogan at WM8 would've been better than their BATB '94 match?

I believe Hogan & Flair wrestled in '82 or '83. which would have been well before the Dayton house show.

The opportunity to have the wcw/NWA champ and the WWF champ face is a once in a lifetime chance and to do it at mania? It didn't mean as much when WCW had it. As far as the houses not being good, they were some of the best drawing since 1990.

Anyone think Flair/Hogan at WM8 would've been better than their BATB '94 match? I think so. more emotion, more hype, atmosphere, longer buildup, both were younger, etc.

From "Hollywood Hulk Hogan": Then I wrestled him in in '83, when I began my second run in New York. That's when we got to be friends.

i actually think wm 8 turned out betta the way it was..i never seen flair as a threat to hogan.. savage/flair i knew would be good.. sid was a good opponent for hogan and with the warrior returning.. made for a much better wm imo
