I see it being an impossible question. There's just too many variables. All you can do is throw numbers around, and even those aren't pure due to all the changes the world has seen.
The times are different. The money is different. The market is different. The sport is different. Could Bob Cousy beat Steve Nash at horse? Would cellular phones have had more of an impact in 1935?

This is a bit like asking if Creed drew more than The Ramones. Financially, perhaps, but which had the greater cultural influence? Great post.
