On my subject of MMA fans starting wars with wrestling fans (Whom don't want to fight at all), you should see on YouTube when an MMA fan comes across a video of Ken Shamrock during his WWF run, or even a wrestling match involving Don Frye or Josh Barnett. They're usually like "Nooooooo!! Why?!". Or even like "Why is this guy doing this fake stuff?". That's the funny thing surrounding the hypocrisy amongst hardcore MMA fans who are so gung-ho about being anti-wrestling. I think someone made a point about how current fans are probably former wrestling fans but don't want to admit it in anyway, almost enough to deny that they ever were fans. Little do they know, the Japanese have a strong appreciation for wrestling and MMA and it's not uncommon to see Japanese fighters do some wrestling and the other way around.

People who equate all of pro wrestling with WWE and say everything else doesn't matter.
People who repeatedly says it's fake as if no one had mentioned that before, and act like they are so intelligent by saying so.
Overzealous MMA fans who go on about how wrestling sucks and MMA is awesome because one is 'fake'/scripted and the other is real.

Most of the non wrestling fans see the wrestling fans as childish/kiddish/immature. This is the most difficult aspect imho. My best friend and I dealt with a lot of that in high school. Even if you show some of these people a great Liger/Ultimo match from New Japan, they refuse to give props to their skills because it's 'fake' and look down on us for following it...

The biggest problem for me is finding good non-WWE alternatives. I like WWE, but sometimes I want something with a more serious flavor. ROH is good, but not quite what I'm looking for, and TNA COULD be what I'm looking for, but the booking sucks.
As for what non-fans think I really don't care. I like wrestling, comic books, and heavy metal music. I gave up trying to defend my hobbies years ago. Everything has haters, just ignore them and enjoy your wrestling.

The deaths aren't too hard to deal with. The only one that hit me hard was Chris Benoit. He had been my favorite for as long as I can remember, to the point where I used most of his moves when backyard wrestling. Him and Mick Foley were like my idols. When I heard he was dead, but before the real news came out, I watched the documentary portion of his DVD set as sort of my own personal memorial service. When the real news came out it was like being stabbed in the back.
Anyway, I find the hardest thing to deal with are infuriating decisions by the creative department in whatever company, combined with wrestlers blowing their chances (RVD, Regal, etc).
I'm surprised no one here has said dealing with girlfriends who don't like it. It was always a criteria of mine that my significant others must at least tolerate it. My wife is fortunately very supportive - she reminds me to turn it on more often than not.

Not having anyone to watch it with. I stopped watching because I get my fix watching chikara promos or youtube clips of New Japan, but the whole thing started with me not watching because watching it on your own isn't so much fun, and watching it with someone who doesn't care or doesn't know who people are or why it's good is kind of soul destroying.
My wife tries to watch it with me, but kind of switches off part way through. In fairness to her though, she does that with all sports and at least doesn't discriminate against fake ones.

Not getting laid on a Monday night because my fiance falls asleep midway through a John Cena promo(No, I'm not exaggerating). That and a lack of people to discuss the product with.

I took a break from following wrestling for a little while, and now there are references I don't get. My boyfriend doesn't like wrestling, and doesn't mind telling me so. He grew up in the 80s/early 90s, so he at least has a rudimentary knowledge of the well-known wrestlers from that era. But I'm not sure if it was the over-saturation of Hulkamania that turned him off so much, or it was the result of an ex who was obsessed with wrestling. (To the point where she watched a video of WM 9, of all things, on a daily basis.)

Because you show them a match with the Red Ranger fighting the Green ranger they should take wrestling srs? Honestly dude don't take yourself so seriously. You watched 2 grown men in masks pretend fight with flips and karate moves. no really why would you choose to show a match with 2 masked and costumed wrestlers, one who wants to look like a dragon, and the other looking like Ultra Man. Nobody will take that match serious besides wrestling fans. Now show that guy something like Angle/Michaels from Wrestlemania 21 and they can see the merit. Plus neither guy is wearing a garish costume.

Plus neither guy is wearing a garish costume. It was an experiment to see if they'd be able to look beyond the costumes and recognize how good they are (did show them RVD/Jerry Lynn, among others for variety's sake). I've had some success there though I did have to explain why Japanese crowds are mostly silent throughout. My older brother was a wrestling fan growing up and introduced me to the work of guys like Dynamite Kid and Tiger Mask now looks down on the whole business because he found out its 'fake' at some point...and he was a fan of Shawn Michaels and Scott Hall too...

I agree that dealing with MMA fans and how they discriminate so intensely against wrestling is one of the harder aspects of being a fan (although nothing tops the difficulty of losing so many of your childhood heroes).
And I hate listening to a pro wrestling audio show or podcast and being inundated by UFC talk for the whole show.
I hate MMA with a passion, have no interest in it whatsoever, and have no idea why "wrestling journalists" like Meltzer and Alvarez cover it so intensively when most UFC fans I know think of wrestling as a total "gay" joke, and wouldn't be caught dead listening to a wrestling podcast to begin with. Meltzer might as well cover baseball and football, if he's going to bother with "legit" sports like MMA.

The most difficult aspect of being a wrestling fan? That's an easy one; wrestling hasn't existed for the longest time know. Vinny Mac's product is not wrestling. It's a weekly over scripted sitcom. Wrestling is off the cuff and natural--this stuff is planned, rehearsed, and ridiculous.

Oh and Regal was King of the Ring, GM of Raw and it looked like he was on his way to becoming world champion but then he failed a drug test.

I'm going to be honest here. The most difficult aspect of being a wrestling fan is getting over your own insecurities.
When ever some one asks me about my wrestling-related tattoos ("Why wrestling?"), I always say something like, "Because I love wrestling - I grew up on it and thinks its one of the funnest things out there today."
No one ever says anything to me about it. Usually its just, "oh, that's cool" or something like that.
The last time I got the "you know, its fake?" comment was actually from this 10 year old kid - it was pretty funny, I just said, "Oh man, don't tell me Santa Claus is fake too?"
But anyway - everyone is a geek about something. If you really wanted to be a dick about it you can find that one thing that someone really likes and pick it a part whether it be sports, cars, guns, sci-fi, romance novels, etc, etc whatever.
So basically its like anything else - if you own you're wrestling fandom and are confident when you talk about it, people won't really give you crap about it and if they do then they've got their own issues to deal with.

The hardest thing I've had to deal with is that I have a solid majority of friends that are apathetic or totally disdain it. Also, you get the feeling they think you're "stupid" for liking a "fake sport".
I don't deal well with the dismissive people. I have friends who are lawyers and doctors and my girlfriend is an engineer. I'm around very smart people a lot of the time, but I do tend to lose my temper when anyone dismisses or attempts to insult me with the whole "It's fake" schtick. Yeah.

The hardest part I have ever had to deal with is the idiots that constantly tell me it is fake. I knew it was fake when I was younger but it is still entertaining. You get those crazy pro-MMA fans that won't even watch a wrestling show once. They call wrestling gay but when you look at MMA(No offense to anyone out there), Some of those moves they do look gay. Wrestling is based on putting a show on in the ring and having fun doing it.

Hardest part for me is trying to get someone to switch the channel to check out whats going on in wrestling. Ive always been a big guy so very few made fun of me for watching wrestling.

Watching PPVs or shows from when I was a kid and realizing almost half of the roster is dead. I was going through the cards of all the Wrestlemanias the other day and I noticed that only 18, 25 and 26 have no one who wrestled on the televised matches who is currently dead.

Dealing with ignorant non-fans and fans alike.
Don't get me wrong: I like a lot of people here, and some at arenas. But on the whole, I've got issues with a lot of fans who I don't think are as serious or smart as they should be (or, worse, as they pretend to be).
