To be fair is it any worse than the One Year Anniversary 30 minute clusterf***? yes. yes it is. its on the same level as Konnan's match at Final Battle 2002 and the ICP's one and only match Well at least those two were short.

Are the PPV/DVD shows like the TV shows. Kinda old school but faster paced? I do not want a ECW clone like CZW. Roh has pretty much strictly stayed far away from hardcore wrestling to the point where it was the center of one of their feuds. They had an interpromotional feud with czw about hardcore wrestling vs pure wrestling. There's been a few bloody matches but not like..people diving into needles and exploding randomly. It's been mostly like i quit matches and cage matches. In the entireity of the companies 8 year history theres only been i think 2 barbed wire matches. So its not ultraviolent BUT it does have blood in the same sense that 1980s wrestling did and they do do definately adult storylines. And they curse. But its not"Shock"tv more wrestling catered to a more mature audience. Generally ring of honor is the most like ecw in the sense of the way its booked and also alot of the same people who were involved with ecw were involved with roh until recently. and its like ecw in the extent to which ecw fully showed what some guys could do if given a chance that they wouldnt get alot of other places. As far as the ppvs and dvds, the problem is alot are out of print and they're kinda full arcs like comic books. Frequently storylines will go throughout an entire year(Samoa joe was the champion for like..two years). Also theyre very contiunity heavy. Instead of watching full shows,I'd suggest you start with actually just watching matches then eventually start watching from the begining. Watch some of the bryan danielson vs nigel mcguiness matches and any of the punk vs joe encounters. They're kinda the epitome of ring of honor.

ROH has done the pure wrestling vs. hardcore wrestling more than once (Ricky Steamboat vs. Mick Foley in late 2004). they do have hardcore wrestling they are either feuds that build up to it (so there is a point to it), or its just a random Necro Butcher hardcore match (which usually are on par or less with WWE Attitude Era hardcore matches). but yes the focal point of ROH is and always has been pure wrestling

Seconded. Each has a match that's easily worth the price of the PPV (Kings vs Briscoes and Tyler vs Richards respectively), the rest of the card ranges from good to great, and they fixed the horrible sound quality of Final Battle. If you just want to go for one, I'd have to rate Death Before Dishonor, as Big Bang was bogged down with never ending hype videos and a dire opener that felt it should have been a dark match. BB was still good, but was kept from being great. DBDH was truly epic, from opener to the finish (excluding one middling tag match near the start) the opening of Big Bang wasn't bad, but the "main event" on the other hand... Man, I just went to bed and slept. I couldn't be bothered with that. In my head, Black/Strong/Aries was the main event, it kicked ass, and I was f'n tired (watching in UK, so big time delays). It...it was bad, I take it?

As for the dvds, pretty much anything from the first show up until Good Times, Great Memories in 2007 is worth checking out. After that, stick with ppvs and the bigger shows like the Final Battles, Glory By Honors, Wrestlemania weekend stuff, etc. excuse me, but if you stick with that formula you miss out on stuff like Race to the Top Tournament: Night Two, Breakout, A Cut Above, Epic Encounter III, etc. also there is a bunch of stuff from 2002 - 2006 that is skip able (Wrath of the Racket, The Last Stand, Night of the Grudges II, Black Friday Fallout, etc) the best way to go about the dvds when starting out is the easiest and most logical: ask people that have seen the shows which ones you should get. Yes, as someone who has seen the shows I was giving my suggestions. You are in fact correct that there are some skippable shows from '02-'07, which is why I said that "pretty much" all of them were worthwhile. I also agree that there is some decent stuff from recent years that weren't "big" shows. I was in no means trying to imply that my personal suggestions were a be all, end all essential list of what to get. That's up to each individual customer. I was just trying to help.
