According to the IWA-MS website, The 2010 Ted Petty Invitational tournament - a premier showcase for technical wrestling - is scheduled to go down on September 17 and 18 @ America's Historic Roundhouse in Aurora, Illinois.
I have to wonder how many big name technical wrestlers IWA-MS will have competing in a 2010 tournament, what with the company's financial troubles and very low attendance rates. Tyler Black and Drake Younger have done some recent IWA-MS shows, so I hopefully they can be counted on to participate in the 2010 TPI.

They still haven't refunded the front row tickets from last year's Ted Petty Invitational that was cancelled.

I find it difficult to not be excited because the TPI always has some awesome stuff, but I cannot believe Ian Rotten is still pulling this crap.

He'll cancel it a week before the event, and never refund any ticket money. By the way, just who the hell IS the Dixieland Destroyer?

I used to like the TPI, but I've completely given up on IWA:MS because of how horrible Ian Rotten is.

The Roundhouse, I discovered tonight, is actually a pretty good venue. Moderately priced drinks for those who indulge; solid food menu; good acoustics. There were probably 50-60 people there tonight. Not too shabby for competing with 1) Brock Lesnar's return, 2) the 4th of July weekend, and 3) Taste of Chicago.
Anyhow, here is the list of entrants so far into the 2010 TPI: Jonathan Gresham Egotistico Fantastico "The New Horror" Sami Callihan Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana Eddie Kingston "The New Age Punisher" B-Boy Davey Richards Tyler Black The Necro Butcher 2 Cold Scorpio Jon Moxley Jimmy Jacobs Balls Mahoney

Now I know this show ain't happening. That lineup is far too good for IWA MS to pull off.

Gresham got into the TPI?! Now, in a complete reversal of my previous opinion, I am all for this. Gresham's a friend, and I really want to see him get his name out there, and the TPI is always great for that.

Actually, we couldn't afford them for anybody. So now you get an Iron Man Match between Dixieland Destroyer and Neil Diamond Cutter!"

A premier showcase for technical wrestling Featuring Necro Butcher & Balls Mahoney Necro & Balls are sort of exceptions to the norm when it comes to TPI competitors, but both can actually pull off great, non-hardcore matches (See Balls Mahoney vs Mastato Tananka @ ECW Hardcore Heaven 2000 or Necro Butcher vs JC Bailey @ CZW High Stakes 3).

Ugh. Ian Rotten is a scumbag POS. Anything he's involved with shouldn't be supported.

Ugh. Ian Rotten is a scumbag POS. Anything he's involved with shouldn't be supported. What about shutting his company down temporarily last year when his son was seriously ill and he had to abandon his work completely to scratch and claw for medical treatment? Should that not be supported? And should providing a place for young, unestablished wrestlers to get a sustained push and a legit chance to get over and get exposure not be supported? Last night's show was damn close to going to hell. Ian's main event was a six-man tag between the Hooligans + Dixieland Destroyer and Necro, Nick Gage and Whacks. Whacks came down with a staff infection. Only about two weeks before the show, Ian had been able to get Sabian and Kingston to agree to come in and face the House of Truth. But with the Taste of Chicago ending today, the price of a plane ticket back to the east coast became cost prohibitive for King, who has to get back to his day job. He never got his plane ticket, and Ian didn't get his other real draw. So pretty much all of the East Coast guys weren't there. But Ian came through with a pretty good show that he almost had to cancel. The House of Truth came out when they heard BLK OUT wasn't there and said, pay up, we're leaving. Ian said, don't worry, I made some phone calls, and you do have opponents tonight. MATCH 1: Josh Raymond and Christian Able (The House of Truth) vs. Egotistico Fantastico (whose opponent Cameron "Ricochet" Locke was also not there) and someone who Ian was able to convince to come in on short notice and take a match when he could have had the holiday weekend off. He really had to hunt him down, but it was well worth it when Egotistico Fantastico's hand was raised victorious alongside his partner, Davey f***ing Richards. Unannounced, Ian pulled off Davey Richards. MATCH 2: Jimmy Jacobs, via End Time, defeated Tornado Tony Kozina MATCH 3: Bucky Collins def. Sal Thomaselli, a dodgeball champion, a local talent, and Marcus Crane to earn a shot at the IWA:MS Light Heavyweight Champion, Jaysin Strife. MATCH 4: Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana defeated Jon Gresham by submission. After the match, Ian offered Colt a TPI spot and made a first round rematch of Colt and Gresham. -smoke 'em if you got 'em- MATCH 5: Matt Cage and Hunter Matthews def David Clark and Donnie Peppercricket. Cage and Matthews worked pretty well together as heels. This was certainly an okay match, but still the worst on the card. I think the ref (debuting) missed the finish, which kind of hurt it. MATCH 6: Jaysin Strife retained the IWAMSLHC over Bucky Collins with a distraction by Matt Cage and interference by Matthews and Crane. MATCH 7: The Hooligans (Desmond and Mason Cutter) and the Dixieland Destroyer came out first, and all we knew was that Ian was going to take one of the three open spots, much to Pattie's anger. Then, some show-tuney melody started to hit the sound system and out came team member number 1, Neil Diamond Cutter. He went right after the three heels and got beat down. Ian comes out for a save. Craziness. Violence. We learn that it's a 3 on 2. But wait! Sal Thomaselli comes out to even the odds! Biggest spot: Cutter does a dive off of a balcony that was at least 15 feet. Seriously, man, do you want to die? Ladder violence, chair violence. Credit to the one Hooligan who judiciously laid in the chair shots so as not to cause instant chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Winners: Ian Rotten, NDC and Sal. Post-match, heels continue a beatdown, and then Dixieland goes for a 747 on NDC as Strife, Crane, Matthews and Cage come out and urge him on. Cutters leave the ring and tell them to stop, it's too much. NDC takes a few 747s from the 400-pounder as well as a top-rop piledriver from Matthews (dear god...). Eventually, Davey and Colt and a couple other faces helped clear the ring. Ian and the Hooligans agreed to a truce, though Sal wants no part of it. So, as shitty a promoter as Ian may well be, he gave a really good wrestling show that was thrown together at a really good venue that ended with a new faction of young heels looking to establish themselves on the indies and also a turning point in a long-running angle (Ian/Cutters) that should allow for some more good stuff down the road.

In more important news, there's a wrestler named Donnie Peppercricket.
In addition to Neil Diamond Cutter.
They should get FCW contracts, STAT!

Uno Hombre Solo *One Solitary Man* Neil Diamond Cutter My friend and I tried to get the B-Boy chant going for Peppercricket, but to no avail (you know - where one half of the crowd chants "B" and the other responds with "Boy." We were no-sold on "Pepper" "Cricket.")

I think my brain stopped computing when it read "technical wrestling" and "IWA" in the same sentence.
