So this past week I was on vacation and was sharing a hotel room with my 6 year old nephew.
On Monday we watched part of RAW.
When they showed footage of the NXT guys attacking Vince he asked why they were attacking the "coach" He meant ref. I explained that Vince is the boss of the company and the guys who were beating him up were the bad guys. He said "The bad guys are stupid." Then during the main event when JoMo was in the ring doing his high flying stuff my nephew was getting excited and saying "whoa!"
Thursday we watched Impact and he really liked the in ring stuff. He got really into the matches. He never really picked out certain guys he wanted to win but enjoyed the action in the ring.
It took me back to when I was watching as a kid and getting excited like that. I think he may be a fan now and I like that.
I will say that when Madison did her entrance on TNA I was a little uneasy with him watching it but he didn't seem too interested in her until the match started.
Anyway
any of you that watch with kids. Does it take you back?

I've watched with my little brother, who is around 6. His views were pretty hysterical, like saying Matt Striker is a teacher, so he should tell them all to stop fighting. He also thought Big Daddy V was terrifying and was concerned the jobbers he beat were going to die.
That's the thing: I don't know if all little kids are like this, but he actually roots for jobbers. Not even, like, Scotty 2 Hotty, I mean local jobbers. He gets genuinely disappointed when they lose, but he eventually seemed to expect it. "FIGURES!"

I remember as a kid my mom would see me watching Superstars and be like "What's the point? You know the big name guy us gonna beat the no name guy"
I kinda miss all those squash matches. I do recall though, there was one match with Ted DiBiase and some jobber... for the life of me, can't remember his name, but his outfit reminded me of Andore from final fight, where he really took it to DiBiase, ended up being a long match, and I think he actually won by countout. My mom was like "He's gonna become one of the big name wrestlers then" Never saw him again... but it made me believe in jobbers lol

I watch it sometimes with my 8 year old brother, but even though he likes wrestling he knows it's not legit and will just pick it apart the whole time. Like pointing out things as well as asking how they do certain moves. Back when I was 8 I knew what the deal was but I didn't care. Whenever I actually watched a show, it never entered my mind that everything was predetermined.

Same for me. Do you think it takes some of the excitement out of it for him?

I tried that with my son. To watch with him and try to reclaim some of the markish excitement. Turns out he is just a shorter smark who likes to come up to me, chop me in the chest and yall "Kobashi!"
True story.
Maybe my daughter would work.

I watch reguarly with my stepson (10) and step daughter (14). I've posted some of Aimee's views in the past, so people might be familiar with her take on things.

Your nephew gets ref and coach mixed up? I did that all the time when I was a little kid. I've found out that that is actually really common for little kids to do for some reason. I started watching wrestling at 7 going on 8 years old and it was perfect timing because it was the summer of 1996. Pretty much the beginning of the entire late 90s wrestling boom. No wonder I can't stop watching even today.

I wish I had such cool stories like this, but I just saw it as something that was fun to watch. Those were the people I wanted to see on an hourly basis, not just for one hour a week. I hated it when they only showed wrestling for that one week. It was as if wrestling was more "real" back then (I know it isn't), but I liked wrestling better when the people didn't act as if it wasn't, when they at least try to tell a story or make it look realistic. But I think most kids are better fans than we adults are because they don't seem to care as much.

I think I read about the Kobashi thing a few months/years ago, but it's still just as friggin' awesome.

When I started watching WWF properly, the Attitude Era had just begun.
I had no concept of heels and faces, I just used to watch the matches and get worried when someone got hurt, no matter who they were. I don't even remember many of the promos, I just used to like the wrestling.
