On Saturday I'll be going to my first APW show. I've heard good things, but am wondering if anyone could give me a quick synopsis of the current roster so I can at least know a little bit about what I'm walking into :B

Well, I can't really tell you anything since I've never been west of Nashville, but is this the one ran by Roland Alexander and featured in Beyond The Mat?

Yep, that's the one.

I was amused by Terry Funk talking about him on the commentary track of Beyond the Mat. The guy did seem like a modern day carny. The part where he starts trying to cry when talking about how Mike Modest and Tony Jones should have contracts is kind of funny.

Roland is a typical scumbag carny who wants nothing but money out of the wrestling business. Not that that's a bad thing. Well it kind of is, but it's better than all of the other companies out here.
That's the main thing they've got going on for them, all the other wrestling sucks and they're average. So if you want live wrestling you'll have to go to them.
The wrestling there is mainly based off WWE style; if only for the reason that all of the APW students aspire to become WWE wrestlers.
Rik Luxury is there, know that he's the best NorCal has to offer. Look forward to watching Rik work. Vennis DeMarco vs Tim Thatcher will probably be fun to watch, both are very charismatic.
Reno Scum are boring. Serious. Fans of Sac Pro cream themselves for them, but they suck. Think nWo ripoffs, but garage band style.
The APW site also says Chupacabra is going to be there. Very very good high flyer.

Can I give you a little bit of advice? It's probable that you just don't have the money to make the trip, but you should reallytry coming down to Southern California for an Indy show some day. The scene down here is 10000000 better than the scene up north.

If he's gonna spend that money and put I-5 wear and tear on his vehicle, he might as well take a plane/Greyhound to a not-California indy. The So Cal scene is good, but is nothing compared to the Philly scene.

I see you're heading to Santa Rosa today, should be a good show. Like baldbull said, it is the most established company in NorCal.

Come to the BTW show next Friday with The Hurricaine & Paul London headlining for some more great Nor Cal Wrestling. Oh, I got my front-row tickets to that one two months ago! XD I know it's not the most popular, but BTW is my indy of choice. I'm a huge fan. Anyway, I got back from the APW show a little bit ago. It was pretty good, aside from the annoying little kids sitting near me. Some thoughts: El Chupacabra is f***ing awesome. The main event included a very excessive and, in my opinion, unnecessary bladejob by one of the Reno Scum guys (not Adam, I think his name was "Luster"). Other than that it was a pretty decent match, but I did not care for the guys they were against, which included what looked to be a Nasty Boyz reject and the new host to Mike Knox's beard. They weren't too bad but their look really turned me off. My favorite match was Dylan Drake vs Timothy Thatcher (I think? idk, he was British). It wasn't anything spectacular but it was the most fun to be a part of the crowd during. We had our very own Hometown Hero in a guy whose last name I didn't catch, first name Jack. He wasn't anything great but it was a ton of fun to cheer for a guy from Santa Rosa :B The first couple of matches were very forgettable (aside from the first match, El Chupacabra vs ...um, somebody. I don't remember who he was but I know I liked him. But yeah, after that match things were very "meh" for a while. "Mr. Wrestling 4" is fun.

I only live 2 towns away from Santa Rosa, but unfortunately couldn't make it tonight. For anyone familiar with APW, do you know if they plan to hit Sonoma County again in the near future? I'd love to have an indy just 20-30 minutes away on a regular basis.

So, I was just checking out the APW website and...ummm...is it just me, or does "Big Country" Jody Kristofferson look like Bam Margera's redneck brother?
This is quite weird.

They seemed like they were trying to build up a fanbase here with hopes to come back at some point but there didn't seem to be a timeline. I go to Sonoma State, so I'd love to get an indy coming to this area regularly.

For a company that doesn't use stars of the past, I think they had a good turnout. They just need a few high flyers just to switch up wrestling styles from match to match.

i like them cuz there the only indy company that uploads their shows weekly. I only wish they updated the website more often like they update their youtube page.
