I was really surprised at the lack of a reaction that Pope gets at house shows. I guess he's really not as popular as people on here make him out to be.

I think that that's another problem with running the vast majority of their shows out of the Impact Zone. It's hard to tell who is really over because someone getting a good reaction there may not get a similar reaction in other cities.

Abyss getting the least amount of votes really SHOULD tell TNA something about his current direction.
Brother Devon getting as many as he does if funny, but I get it because I randomly mark for him too. Just something about him.

I'm the only one who thinks that is stupid select the title contenders with a poll?
Those ones are very easy to manipulate (at least if you know somebody who knows about computers and internet)
At least made a Poll in a Pole Match

As sjones said, at Lockdown Pope wasn't getting anywhere near the level of face pops you would have expected. The crowd support swung back and forth during the match, but overall it seemed to be about 50-50 cheering for each. Which when one wrestler is supposed to be a heel and is also carrying your top title does say something.

I think that people are confused as to whether he is a street preacher or a pimp, and are trying to determine how he can be both and they forgot to vote. TNA must figures that they are the same thing. Street preachers drop knowledge and/or give a religious message to crowds of people in open places. A pimp sells prostitutes for money. 2 Completely different things.

Thats all Pope's doing, he's said in interviews that the only reason 'pimp' is anywhere near his gimmick is because he took chants that the fans kept.. well, chanting, and he ran with it. Paraphrasing, but his quote was something to the effect of "Let the fans decide. Am i a street preacher? Am I a pimp? Thats the beauty of wrestling, the fans have a say."

Honestly, I think the entire poll thing is stupid. It both leads to nothing but things like the Wolfe thing, and at the same time is going to be counterproductive to any longterm booking plans.

The crowd support swung back and forth during the match, but overall it seemed to be about 50-50 cheering for each. Which when one wrestler is supposed to be a heel and is also carrying your top title does say something. It all can be explained. Because what your saying as been something that always been going on with TNA fans. It become a "TNA" event thing. Which then become a wrestling thing because it happens in the WWE as well. Cena and HHH which HHH was the heel is an example of this. There was a lot of HHH cheers. Over the years TNA fans have been cheer the heels and do that back and forth chants. There's not really anybody who is fully draw heel heat because he that good. Even Mr. Anderson gets the cheers. AJ Styles is supost to be the heel. But fans don't want to boo a guy who does all these impressive moves. AJ ring styles does say "Heel". Because he so althic and does these high flying moves. But when you go back in TNA history. Hell just pick ANY Samoa Joe vs. Angle matches. The poll does nobody justice. Because fans was able to vote a bunch of times and it was easy. But when fans knew Pope was injuried of course that didn't Vote. Also why Angle was so low because fans knew he was taking time off. If AJ was so much more over then the Pope then why is Pope ahead of him? Even taking time off Angle got more. What really more sad about the poll is Hogan's boy and personal project of becoming the next "Cena" only got 900 votes and is at the VERY last spot. Really does anybody think people SERIOUSLY voted for Rob Terry?

i always thought popes character was a real life version of a street preacher except he didnt hide the fact that he was a pimp and loved money.

See, I like the poll idea. The problem is its pretty transparent which people TNA wants to push and which it doesn't. And the ones it doesn't don't end up looking very good in their shots.

Apparently the majority of Pope fans are on this board.

Apparently the majority of Pope fans are on this board. Don't start that, we don't want the TNA Forum's version of the Mickie Warz breaking out again...

Would it be blasphemy to say I preferred Burke in WWE over how he is in TNA? Admittedly, part of that might be the fact that the man really shouldn't be allowed to dress himself.
