Are there any instances where the NEWZ websites actually hit something spot on? What's perhaps the most prominent? Did it shock you?

It was reported months before it happened that WWE was thinking about putting Festus with CM Punk as the mentor who saved him.

A recent one was that Meltzer called Mysterio winning the world title at Fatal Four Way a couple of weeks before it happened.

The endless "Carlito is unhappy and wants out" stuff. The best part is, everyone always pointed to this one as proof that NEWZ sites made stuff up. And then the second he left WWE, his first interview he basically confirmed every last story. Another one, Meltzer basically had every detail of the Montreal Screwjob right. Really interesting read if you've never seen it

Hell, Carlito did an interview while with WWE confirming it and running down Trips and Steph but, people still called newz.

About 95% of the stories in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter are usually right.

Yeah, sorry. I didn't mean to imply it was a prediction, I thought this included times when they got backstage stories bang on as well (Jericho/Goldberg, Booker/Batista, etc.)

Yeah, nevermind, I misunderstood the point of the thread, lol. Thanks! It was a good read, didn't know it existed.

Yeah it's really interesting, and even Bret has said it's the most accurate account of things you'll find. If I'm not mistaken, the day after the Screwjob happened Bret actually called Meltzer and basically said "Tell me what you have, and I'll fill in the blanks".

I was reading one of these newz sites years ago and they were claiming that Trips and Steph were actually an item long before Trips began his meteoric rise.

That's what Bret says in his book, that he called Meltzer.
