Which TNA PPV names should change?

One of the problems I have with TNA is the name of their PPV events. There's two reasons that it bothers me. The first reason is that I can rarely remember what PPV is coming up because a lot of the names are just very generic sounding. The other reason is that a lot of the names just plain suck. Here's a list of TNA PPV names, and which ones I think should be changed, and which ones could stay.

TNA Genesis - Pretty generic sounding name and really makes no sense or describes the PPV in no way whatsoever. I say get rid of it.

TNA Against All Odds - Generic sounding name. Doesn't describe the event at all. And is really not even a good name at all.

TNA Destination X - Awesome name. X Division should always be featured heavily on this show, and I'd actually prefer to see the X-Division as the main event.

TNA Lockdown - Great name for an all cage match PPV.

TNA Sacrifice - It's generic, but it's not a bad name. I could live with or without it.

TNA Slammiversary - Kind of a corny name but I kind of like it too. I actually think that this PPV should be marketed as TNA's Wrestlemania rather than BFG. Hell, a lot of people already think it's supposed to be TNA's biggest show anyway.

TNA Victory Road - Terrible terrible name. It's just God-awful. The only way that name would be better is if the event was headlined by a Victory Road match that was similar to a Royal Rumble or something, where the winner got a big title shot.

TNA Hard Justice - Everybody knows this name is stupid.

TNA No Surrender- Another generic name. This name might be a little better if the PPV was based on Submission matches, but WWE showed how that's an awful concept.

TNA Turning Point - Stupid name. Probably the worst of all.

TNA Final Resolution - Not a bad name really. The event should actually live up to the name though, with long running feuds ending there.

TNA Bound For Glory - Not a bad name, but it's a little odd. It doesn't bother me though so I can give it a pass.

My suggestion would be to just keep Destination X, Lockdown, Slammiversary, Final Resolution, and Bound For Glory. The rest of the PPV names should be something new each year, that way they can reflect what is actually going to happen at the show. Just because WWE tries to turn all of their PPVs into a yearly event, doesn't mean TNA has to as well...

The rest like Genesis, Turning Point, No Surrender, and Hard Justice should just be scrapped all together.

I'll save the entire thread some trouble. Just cancel 6 of them...any six just cancel them. the remaining names will be accepted far better. Keep BFG it's the super show

My suggestion was to just give those PPVs a different name every year, sort of how WWE used to do with the In Your House PPVs. It's kind of hard to come up with those types of names in advance because it would depend on what the big angle going into the show is.

But if they insisted on having every PPV be an annual deal, TNA already has a few decent gimmick match names that would make good PPV names. Full Metal Mayhem, King of the Mountain, Monsters Ball, Barbed Wire Massacre. Obviously there would need to be a gimmick match to correspond with the PPV title, but I think that could work as long as they don't go overboard like WWE does with it's gimmick PPVs.

I wish they would have kept Unbreakable, replace Hard Justice with that.

I actually like Genesis as the first PPV of the year, Lockdown and BFG are good for their two big shows. The rest can go with no issue, IMO.

I gotta admit, TNA's PPV names could use a little bit of remodeling all the way around. Genesis is probably the most generic name of all, but I can accept it given that it's the January PPV.

I don't really like Sacrifice, because the premise that the name revolves around tends to be a flop for me. They can definitely improve that one.

Hard Justice is probably one of the worse names they have, just for the instant image it gives. It's a sure sign that I'm online too much.

I can tolerate Against All Odds, No Surrender, and Turning Point. But I'm sure they could do better if they tried.
I like Slammiversary, Victory Road, Final Resolution, and Bound for Glory.

I think Turning Point would make a great replacement for Hard Justice.

February-Destination X-Featurings Ultimate X titles matches
March- Against All odds-Featuring a tournament for Lockdown title shot.
April-Lockdown-Featuring all Cage matches
May-Genesis- featuring s big new storyline starting
June-Slammiversary-Featuring KOTM
July-New PPV
August-Turning Point-Featuring a change in the big storyline
September-Victory Road-Featuring a 4way match for Bound For Glory title shot.
October-Bound For Glory-End the major storyline and have huge title match.
November-No Surrender-BFG rematch and Submission main event
December-Final Resolution-End the year with some big matches and one last title match for the BFG main event plus Feast or Fired.

Maybe TNA could do something like a theme throughout the whole year. Like if they went to a reduced # of PPVs they could do something like historical fights or something:

TNA presents:
Gladiators
Sacrifice: I say keep this one, but really emphasize the "sacrifice" part where people put things on the line for the match.
Toreadors or Matadores: (bullfighting theme, could do luchador stuff - good crossover opportunity with Mexico)
Lockdown Cage PPV, kind of a nod to MMA/cagefighting
Shogun: cross over with Japanese promotion
Bound For Glory Year end blow out show.

Or even a more abstract theme already in line with TNA's ppvs - they're more generic, but could be taylored to a concept:
"Sacrifice": Sacrifice something if you lose
"Domination": Can only win through Knockout (10 count) or submission.
"Lockdown": Cage matches
"Excess" or "Reckless"X-Division oriented matches, even for the heavyweights.
"Torment" or "Agony": The build up PPV for BFG
"Bound for Glory"They could just call it "Glory" too and I wouldn't mind.

Yes, those are terrible names. But like Nuke said, they reflect what the PPV is based on. You either need a cool generic PPV name (ie WWE Armageddon, ECW Hardcore Heaven) or one that reflects what the event is about (ie. Good Friends Better Enemies, Canadian Stampede).
