Remember when they had Daniels come back around 2007 with the face paint around his eye and he kind of went back to a darker version of his Fallen Angel gimmick and had a pretty big feud with Sting? I thought this was one of the best storylines Daniels ever had and it is too bad they randomly put Triple X back together and ruined it.

Yes.
Wasn't Sting willing to have a feud with Daniels and put him over but TNA told him he was beating Daniels clean and that was the end of the angle? That's some WCW level stupidity right there.
In fact it was worse than WCW because they were hampered by guys who were unwilling to do the job. TNA have guys like Sting and Angle who are willng to put young guys over but there was a period at least where TNA wouldn't let them.

The storyline was poorly done in the end but I don't feel like this was the right time or that Daniels was hot enough to pull that trigger on him. The key time for Daniels, in my opinion, was building at the end of last year and had that carried on into this year I really think it would have been the PERFECT time to pull the Daniels ME trigger.
Unfortunately that didn't happen and he became an afterthought.

If a character change involves the addition of face paint, it's pretty much always screwed up.
