It's not much to go on, but just hearing from the phone call Hogan was on during Impact, it sounds like they're planting the seeds to write Hogan off after his contract expires in December. He basically said he's thinking of quitting because of what happened to RVD, and it feels to me this might be building up to Hogan having one last match against Flair in December, and then he and Bisch walk. If Reaction can draw some viewers, I could see his production company continue it, but otherwise, I think they're both gone in December.

I think no matter what TNA will hold on to Bischoff Hearvy productions they have had a very positive effect on the quality of Impact production wise. Even if Hogan and Bischoff leave they have to want them on the production side of things because if you watched TNA before they took over you can clearly see that the camera angles and commercial break placements made the show unwatchable at times.

It did sound like that, but they are contracted for another year if you're going to trust what Bischoff says. If anything, it seems kind of like a contingency plan. Hard to say for sure, but Hogan's presence has definitely toned down week-by-week.

Ya know what would suck? If Hogan died. He's like, the biggest name in wrestling history. Hell, he IS wrestling! He's the one who made wrestling a big thing.

The thing is, though, he's only "the guy that made wrestling" because Vince McMahon made a concerted effort to make him the guy that made wrestling. If Vince had chosen someone else, no one would even remember who Hogan is. Not arguing the point that it would suck if he died, just saying that the whole "he's the guy that made wrestling" argument rings a little hollow to me.

This is a really old debate, but denying the contributions of either of them is realistically unfounded. Hulk Hogan could have been someone else, but it's questionable how much that someone else could have carried it. For all intents and purposes, "Superstar" Billy Graham was the Hulk Hogan character before Hogan was, and it didn't catch on quite as well. Hogan was a product of McMahon's promoting skills, but Hogan certainly made himself easy to promote. Even when McMahon believed the tap was dry on Hogan, he went elsewhere and redefined his character to keep himself relevant. Hogan is the wrestler that made wrestling, and no amount of "It could have been someone else" can change that. The main point is that it wasn't someone else. It was who it was.

Saying anyone could of been Hogan is ridiculous. It's like saying any pop star could of been Michael Jackson. Or any metal band could of been Metallica.
In fact Vince tried to recreate Hulk Hogan with the Ultimate Warrior and Lex Luger and both times failed.

Yeah.
How many times has Vince tried to make someone "The Guy", only it for to not in any way match up with Hogans success.
Anyway, if he leaves, he leaves. But I echo Bischoff and his tech-crew staying. I love the look and feel of Reaction. I feel that's a progressive state in wrestling as opposed to WWE using aged techniques like vignettes.

That segment enraged me.
"RVD is like the president of this company! It's like killing the president!"
UGHHHHHHHHHH.

Not arguing the point that it would suck if he died, just saying that the whole "he's the guy that made wrestling" argument rings a little hollow to me. I can say with certainty that no one else could have replaced Hogan in the 80's. I would guess even Vince, the ego maniac that he is, would say the same thing. Hogan was a huge star before Vince gave him the strap in 1984. He was a mega star in the AWA, Japan, and was coming off a lot of pub for Rocky III. Who was Vince going to push in Hogan's spot that would have been as successful as Hulk? No one. Yes, Vince deserves credit for making wrestling as big as it became since he was promoting it at its height, but you have it backwards, without Hogan no one would remember who Vince was. Hogan was one of the biggest pop culture celebrities in the world in the 80's and 90's, and remains recognizable to this day. Vince gave him the platform, but Hogan brought him the money. If Vince never went national, and never brought Hogan in, then Hulk would have been drawing huge numbers in the AWA or Japan or whatever other company that had enough resources to get him.

He's the one who made wrestling a big thing. totally a storyline TNA needs to try out. impact finishes a main event, where someone wins the world title and it's a happy moment with confetti. hogan comes out and celebrates with the new champion. then he goes backstage and he's walking by everyone in the hallway going "GREAT SHOW TONIGHT", then all of a sudden he has a "heart attack" and collapses and the show fades to black. somebody get russo on the phone

I dunno what the short term goals were. If they have met the ones they set than Hogan shouldn't have anything to worry about. Now before you start posting assumptions about TV ratings ect. None of us know what was wreitten out as a standard of performance for Hogan or Bischoff. We just do not know

If it was the Glorious Monday Night Invasion, Hogan failed spectacularly.

Well as someone who stopped watching because eventually the Hogan-Bisch influence ruined it for me, I am happy to hear there is a chance this horrible marriage may be headed for divorce soon.

This is not a knock on anyone, but anyone who thinks that the WWF would have made it through the 1980's if Vince put ANYONE else in Hogan's spot must not have been alive at the time.

I don't mind being conned one way about their contract lengths, because I honestly don't care. If they stay, I'm fine with it. If they leave, I'm fine with that too.

If Hogan leaves TNA should debute a new slogan. TNA: Get the orange out!
