Awful show although the Mystero vs Chavo and JBL vs Eddie matches are worth a watch

Glad I never saw this PPV. This card doesn't even look good on paper outside of the Cruiserweight and WWE title matches.

Is it just me, or have all the Great American Bash PPVs that WWE have held have all been horrendously bad?

Wow, I've heard horror stories about this PPV. The guys on PWInsider in particular did a hilarious ranting recap of it. I have to wonder if it would be a bit better remembered had they not 1. Jobbed Eddie out to JBL and 2. Had the goofy "Paul Bearer drowns in cement" angle for the main event.
The 4 way US title match could have been decent, but then I remembered a few things:
--Dupree was in the match and getting pushed. --Van Dam was in a contract dispute at this point and was totally buried on Smackdown. --Booker T. had done a heel turn because he hated being on SD and was phoning it in.

Why put this tragedy on 24/7!? IMO, it's right behind December 2 Dismember & the 1991 GAB as the worst PPVs ever.

Whats with all the velocity-level matches (haas/reigns, gunn/suzuki, mordecai/holly) being on ppv?

Didn't they give JBL the title so they could annoy CNBC for dumping him over the "goosestepping" incident in Germany?
God that PPV was so awful.

Its arguably the worst PPV of the last 10 years, except for maybe December to Dismember.

Okay, I am not sure what you guys will say about this, but I actually bought the Tagged Classics with this and Vengeance 2004 together about two weeks ago. Now before you guys get on my case about buying it, I have been on a kick lately which has to do with buying old PPV DVDs and I am somewhat of a completist, ergo, I bought the set, plus I wanted to use a Borders coupon at the time. I read my share of horror stories as well. One of the ones that really displayed a lot of hate towards was the Old Tyme Rasslin' Revue on Online Onslaught. I read that thing and man, does Adam Gutschmidt really display his disdain (If that word should even describe his review). In the final word, he said that he bit the bullet for everyone so that nobody should watch it and only people who shall watch probably a sick perversion or if they lost a bet.
Anyway, here's my opinion: I watched this show to see how bad it was and while the show was bad, I can't say that I regret watching it. I did like Rey vs. Chavo a lot. Pretty much match of the night right there. The Fatal Four Way was decent or okay. I can admit that the match was flawed but it was still watchable. And the title match, I actually enjoyed that match, but I was not very fond of the ending. I can say that in the end JBL's reign did pay off, but the way the finish was booked that involved a reversed decision/screwjob ending kind of ruined it. The Smackdown/Velcocity TV-worthy matches like Haas/Reigns, Suzuki/Gunn, and Holly/Mordecai all sucked. Sable/Torrie was nothing special either, but I knew that would suck since those two aren't wrestlers, period. Now for the main event, well the action wasn't ALL THAT BAD, but a lot of the ranting from Heyman kind of set the match back a bit. It felt more like a promo/segment that should've been on Smackdown rather than on PPV. Now for the post match part, call me sick, but I actually busted up during the part when Taker pulled the lever on the cement mixer. I don't know if it had to do with the fact that many people thought that they witnessed a murder on PPV or what. Or maybe it was because the thing was done so badly that I might've been laughing AT the whole thing? I don't know.
Overall, yes, it was a bad PPV, but at least there were 2 or 3 decent matches on the card. Besides, I still hear that nothing could top GAB 91 or KOTR 95 as the worst PPV ever. Hell, KOTR 99 wasn't great either and I sat through that as well.
One more thing, if you go to Online Onslaught, there's also this hilarious little entry about the booking surrounding this event. It's on the main page, somewhere close to the OOTRR of this one.

You know your pay per view is in trouble when you have a handicap match headlining the show. Not only that, but a handicap match that doesn't even involve the World Title as well as one with a ludicrous stipulation.

This show marked the beginning on JBL's title reign. It deserves to be able to be seen again.
